I am seriously considering Lap Band surgery. But I don't know where to even start, can someone please tell me the first step for this? I am on SSI, and I have a home health care waiver, does social security pay for this procedure. I heard that they do but I am not sure. anything you can tell me about anything I'm sure will be helpful at this point. thank you

I cannot answer the SSI question. But the first place to start would be your primary care doctor who can make a referral.

I am on ssi also and medicaid covers the surgery. They make you jump through alot of hoops but it is worth it. And when they say you have to have 7 months of nutrition therapy make sure YOU GO! I messed up and ended up having to go 9 months. I wish you well and hope it works!
