Thanks so much Rain. The guidelines are so detailed. I did not get anything close to that. I saved it so that I can reference it as I move through the phases. How are you feeling? Have you gotten past the bloated and soreness yet?

I am glad that you could use the info!

Bloated..no.

Sore..... YES and I tire very easily.

Did a very slow treadmil walk today and tired at 10 min.

The other day I went to the market and drugstore and felt I had more energy.

So...go figure. The body knows, I guess.

Hey...after all, I am no spring chicken by any means!

Hi, I had a friend that went through this a year ago - she added B-complex and Biotin to her diet and her hair stopped fall out within about two weeks her hair looked great.

I had problems with the slimfast too - I switched to the EAS shakes. No more problems.

I also am finally drinking 60 - 70 oz or fluids - every day and I am back to normal as far as energy goes.

Glad to hear that Munger. I was on Biotin before the surgery. I will go back to it. Does your friend take her supplements in liquid form? If she does, will you ask where she gets the biotin?

I find it so amazing how different all the post op diet instructions are. Even my doctor and the nutritionist that the sent me to have differences. And they also recommended a book, weight loss surgery with the adjustable gastric band by Robert Sewell and that one is different yet on the post op diet.

I am doing well, started on mushy stuff slowly yesterday and had no issue at all, just chew, and watch portion size, but I fidn I am full after very little food. The doctor says that must mean that I have some initial restriction probably due to some fat between the band and stomach and as I lose that will change. So unless I have issues I dont go back now until 6 weeks post op. Feeling good, only real pain tenderness is around port, all incisions are healed well, have one major bruise around port but otherwise doing well. I was able to work a full day yesterday so my energy is increasing as well.

I got banded May 29th, and I started mushies yesterday. I'm so excited to finally start something other than liquid's!

My doc scheduled my first fill on July 6th, so I'm nervous and excited to get some kind of restriction because right now I'm not really feeling any. I haven't PB'd yet, and I hope I don't do it; but I have been running to the bathroom constantly after I eat.

It's so nice to read about other people who were banded around the same time and compare stories on how they are doing. It's nice to know that how I feel or what I am going through is sorta normal.

Wish you all the best on your journey's!

What is PB'd? I see that mentioned in a lot of responses.

2911 -

Along with the pedialyte popsicles, try some Powerade zero for electrolytes and low-sodium v-8 for a major dose of potassium. My surgeon's guidelines did not include a water/liquids requirement for week 1, but he asks that we drink 48-64 oz per day thereafter. I know that it's very difficult to force oneself to eat and drink anything when all that gas is in there. Maybe when you get more fluids in, it will give you the energy to do more walking. Gas-x strips and walking practically saved my life. :blushing: I've read that a heating pad helps too.

Keep us posted, dear. It *will* get better, and when it does you will be astonished at the progress that each new day brings. I'll pray that this starts SOON for you and will trust that it will.

No - she crushes them!

About the gas - WALK - WALK -WALK. Even if it is just around the dinner table!! I try to walk at least 5 minutes every hour or so plus about 30 min. first thing in the morning. My dr. from when I had my gualbladdder remover recomend this - I have not had gas with either Lapo. surgeries!!

Thanks. I need to start walking. I am either bloated or still swollen. I can't tell. I hope the walking helps. I had about 3/4 cup of pureed bisque and I am hurting all over. I do not know if that was too much or too rich. I can't wait until this phase is over and I am feeling back to normal. Thanks to all who reply. I appreciate the input.

PB is productive Burp. Basically it's when you overeat and your food comes back up. It's not like throwing up--or so I've been told. It's more like when a baby eats to much they spit up the food--it's the same thing.

Thanks! I now have an idea what pb'ing is all about. The bottom line: DO NOT OVEREAT!!!

3/4 cup at one meal?? Does your doc allow that? Mine has me at 2-4 oz(1/4 to 1/2 cup) 3x a day...maybe make your meals a lil smaller and it may feel a lil better...

Thanks Alaska. He actually did not give me a limit on liquids. I will will have smaller portions from now on. I had no idea 3/4 of cup was too much.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
