So I was banded on the 20th of April

I was down to 320 from 359 (347 surgery date). Today I stepped on the scale and its up to 324. So a four lbs weight gain in four days since getting a fill. I have 5.1 in a 14cc. My hunger has definately gone back up after the two liquid days last week.

I find myself grazing and I don't want to start that cycle again. Breakfast was 1/2 cup oatmeal. lunch was 4oz salmon. Tough going down - think it might have gotten a bit stuck or I hit the fill point, not sure which, but I def. got the "oh crap.... something ain't right" feeling. It went away after awhile.

What do you guys think?

Eating too fast? Not filled enough? Just curious of your opinions.

Steve

I was banded back in September and have yet to feel the perfect restriction and have had to get unfills etc. The doc says we keep overshooting or undershooting my sweet spot. Long story short, I too often find myself looking for food. I find that in between fills, I have to count calories. Also, drinking plenty of Water between meals, keeps me full longer.

It sounds like your may not be filled enough. You should only be getting hungry about every 4 hours (for some it's longer) as for the salmon, you probably ate too fast.

Main thing that helped me is don't get on the scale every day. That will drive you insane. Pick one day a week and the time of day. For me it's Saturday, first thing in the morning. Measure your success by that loss or gain. You will go up and down many timest throughout the week but won't know it if your only weighing once a week.

Good luck, I go in tomorrow for a fill and hope this is the one.

Steve, I was told to eat 3 oz of Protein (looks about the size of a deck of cards, and a vegetable). Wait 15 minutes and if I was still hungry to have a serving of whole grain carbs. If a meal didn't keep me satisfied for 4 hours, my Snacks were to be Protein, like 1 oz low fat cheese or a half cup of low fat cottage cheese. A couple of times, I ate a few steamed shrimp. You have to be careful what you put in your mouth.

I have 5.6 in a 10CC band and I'm feeling restriction. But, 5.1 in a 14CC band probably isn't getting to where you need to be yet.

i can go up 4lbs just having too much sodium in my diet - i wouldn't get crazed about it, but i would try to limit your grazing. the band will totally let you eat a bit here / there over the course of the day & those calories will add up.....especially if your not countering it w/calories out (exercise).

re - salmon, either you ate too fast or it might have been too dry.

The account of you "mouth orgasm" may be helping with the 4lb gain

I agree with the not being filled enough--I've got 5.something in a 10cc band and not really feeling a whole lot yet.

Gorton's, Trusted Since 1849 ---Get the Gorton's for a great (easy peasy) meal too!

I use a bit of FF ranch dressing to make the fish a little easier to get down. I could really overload on the ranch, so I have to watch it.

all good advise on here but I was going to say what has already been said, the grazing can really add up before you know it and when i have had problems with salmon it was usually because it was too dry

Constantly amazing myself. This is probably a normal experience for all of us on a WL journey.
This morning I was at 174 pounds (78.9 kilos). I can perceive that my brain hasn't really caught up to this yet, as I still feel obese, even though I am close to being considered a normal weight, not even overweight. The smaller clothes, the higher fitness level, the great blood work results, the energy- these all tell me a totally different story!
I have NEVER EVER been, never, not once in my life, nada, zip, zilch, zero times, been "thin." I think this explains some of the disconnect between the reality of my body and the stuckness of my brain. I do have confidence that my mind will catch up soon ❤️
Not really having the experience of true hunger yet, but I can perceive the peristalsis of my digestive tract. And I am getting very good at spotting head hunger, and simply noticing it, like a Buddhist.

I ordered the Barbecue Protein Crisps here from BariatricPal, and find them quite tasty. The Ranch flavour, not so much. They are very filing and have a satisfying crunch.
I continue to shrink, and am amazed at the changes all over my body. Visually, it is striking to me. In the mirror, I look thin to my eyes, but I don't feel thin, although I can see more bones and veins and tendons and floppy skin. Cardio-wise, It takes a lot more effort to get my heart rate up and I'm now monitoring which heart zone I can get into and for how long. My resting heart rate is the lowest it's ever been.
If I think about it, and I left myself feel it for a time, I weep (like, boohoo cry) with joy. I am so grateful to myself, and proud of myself for having the courage to have taken the leap to better health.
