  1. I'm not too far off from you in terms of height, weight and age 43 I was 240lbs and 5'3". I know nothing at all about the diet pills--never had them. You say that your best friend is supportive, you don't say if you are married--having a spouse who is supportive is a huge help. As far as everyone else--they are not the ones in your head and body--screw em. Weight will be harder and harder to take off as you age, thats the way that its been for me. Do what you want to do. I would have the surgery.
  2. I'm going to measure in millimeters!! Then I'll have lot a bunch! I have no idea how many inches I've lost
  3. There is no reason you should suffer in pain, please call your doc in the am to see if they can give you something stronger. You're only going to have liquids in you for the next two weeks, I doubt you can get much constipation from that. Walking can really help any gas pains. Good Luck dear
  4. Well I feel like a complete dumb ass! I went in today for a fill and thought that I had a 10cc band, I actually have a 14cc band. I now have 9cc's in that band, not supposed to eat today, so I'll find out tomorrow if I feel any restriction yet. Hopefully soon
  5. I've had 4 or 5 fills and I'm at 9.something. No restriction to speak of. Never been sick, thrown up or gotten stuck. There are people here with 1cc that have great restriction. I can't fathom that. I have a fill appointment tomorrow--filler er' up

    Entertainment???

I'm going to see Mike Birbiglia in DC this Saturday, Them Crooked Vultures in concert Boston next Sunday, again in Philly next Monday and then again in DC on Wednesday I would not have had the stamina to do all that 45lbs ago. I wonder if I will survive the pit at these shows? ah, who cares, I'm gonna have the time of my life I'd call that entertainment 25 cool points for anyone who knows who Them Crooked Vultures are without Googling

    Clear Liquids???

I was CLEAR liquids in the hospital (2 days essentially) full liquids for about 8 days (till my first appointment at the surgeons office) then it was full liquids for a week, soft/mushy for 2 weeks--then full diet. Everything about this procedure is different from doctor to doctor I really do mean everything. take hints, ideas and questions for your doctor from this postboard--everything else do what he tells you to do.
  8. I can tell you not to waste your money on Zoic Nutritional drink--it tasted like ass.

    MetroMint

I've tried the spearmint and it felt like I was drinking gum---a little off putting! I will try the chocolate mint when I find it though-thanks!

    What foods are protein?

What thread are you reading? The thread starter hasn't been to the surgeons yet as shes waiting for a referral.
  11. I was taking Vicodin the day after my surgery in pill form. The doctor never said to crush them or do anything different, so I haven't. I take a multivitamin, a smallish pill for blood pressure and Tylenol whenever I need it No problems.

    Pain Meds

Mine gave me an Rx for Vicodin--many people get one for a liquid pain medicine. The chances are you will need/want something for the few days after surgery
  13. Get the exact name of the first medicine they gave you this morning so that, in the future, you can tell other doctors, hospitals and pharmacists that you are alergic to it. Don't blame the lap band, it was the antibiotic.

    Outpatient vs. Inpatient

I had no choice, insurance mandated an overnight stay. I felt fine by around 8 hours after I woke up and would've loved nothing more then to be unhooked from all the things they had me hooked to and gotten some sleep at home. When people say they don't get sleep in the hospital they usually mean a few catnaps here and there, I didn't close my eyes at all. I was in a room with two men. I am not a man. All I wanted to do was go home. I think I've made my point! :seeya:

I feel like I blew it....

This isn't meant to be rude, just a wake up Eating that much food with the band could very well screw something up. Is this a pound including the shell or 1lb of crab meat? if it's the latter, you ate approx 4 times what you should have eaten. Doing this can stretch the pouch and defeat everything you've been working towards People here are telling you that you are only human and to do better tomorrow, and thats what I hope you get from all these posts, including mine. You're not just overeating now, it can fuck you up if you do it with the band on. Good luck dear, I mean that.
  16. I can eat anything. I've had 4 or 5 fills, but I don't have good restriction yet.

1 day post op - already hungry?

Take an alcoholics stance on this--take it day to day. It's very important that you don't move your diet ahead any faster then the doctor tells you to. That being said, after 7 days or so on clear liquid--call them (if you haven't already had a follow up by then) and ask them if you can have more at that point. You have to give yourself time to heal. I was pretty hungry by day 3 or so also. I know the feeling, most of us here do. Try very hard to keep yourself busy, do light housework around the house, paint something, take the dog for lots of walks, do something to keep your mind off your stomach Good luck dear

    3rd fill

Did he say he woudn't want to put more in at this fill or that he didn't want to put any more in ever? Perhaps he needs to be reminded that everyone is different. I've had 4 or 5 fills (last one under fluro) and have less then a cc to go till I'm all full. No sweet spot for me yet. Are you losing at a decent pace? slow and steady wins the race

    What can't you eat??

possibly because of the stringy texture--I don't really know I can eat anything.
  20. I think I'm coming down with a cold:smile:
  21. um.....go to bed early, you can't feel hunger pangs when you are sleeping. I was on all foods by week 4.

    Tanning

As long as the incisions are all closed and well on their way to healing I see no reason not to tan. If you wish to look like a worn out, used leather handbag in 10 years go for it!

    Who eats Bread?

No problem with any breads for me as well. I'm not at my sweet spot yet, I've got 8.something in a 10cc band
