  1. I also got a lot of information from my surgeons practice. Started off with the first seminar (is surgery right for you etc) a mandatory 4 hour class with an RN and a nutritionist. We got a large folder at that last class with a ton of information, lots of food suggestions, what to do if this happens, what to expect etc. I was also sent vdieos to my email at different times durring the process. The same nutritionist sat with me for about 1/2 hour before I went home after surgery and answered all my questions, I also have her email address. Commonwealth Surgeons Richmond VA I agree with the original poster, there do seem to be a lot of people who aren't getting basic information out there.
  2. I wont rip you and I know many others have done something they shouldn't have right after surgery. Since you recognize a real problem with food and the band isn't going to make that relationship any better, maybe you could consider seeing a counselor. Ask your surgeons office for some names, I'm certain you aren't the first. Be honest with your surgeon and they will be able to help you. PS---please tell Axl to get rid of the cornrows--thx! Sincerely, Mrs. Dave Grohl!
  3. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this!!! Original Poster Sven: I'm not losing weight. The Rest of The Board: quack, quack, blah blah, talk talk talk Original Poster Sven: *gone* well, perhaps he lost some weight by walking away from this thread!
  4. Who am I supposed to be making amends to? All the chefs I've harmed in the past??!!
  5. No, it doesn't. But after reading a post of yours: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/1125678-post1.html Ice cream does go thru the band
  6. I've had a burger (a 1/4 of one at a time) I have General Tso's leftovers in the fridge and I've had a piece of pizza. I don't eat like this every day, but I don't deny myself food I like either. This is for the rest of my life, I'm not going to make any food completly off limits. 85% of the time I make good choices. I didn't have this surgery to make my life miserable, just to have more control.
  7. I had electronic compresses on my calves the whole time I was in the bed in the hospital they really fear blood clots
  8. I had no problem getting that gas out of my body after the surgery---came out same as always! Walking really helped me with the gas that they put in me.
  9. I really thought the economy was starting to take a good turn--sorry about that shit news good luck and rest after your surgery
  10. They had me out of the bed and walking around the hospital floor about 4 hours after the surgery. I was walking all over the house, up & down the stairs the next day. Walking totally helped--lessen the risk of blood clots and you don't "feel" sick since you aren't spending the whole time sitting or laying down. I was folding and sorting laundry that weekend--didn't want to just sit around.
  11. I heart you Bill!!! I may be DonnainVA now but most of my life was spent in Columbus  My mom always sends me OSU things--I just got an OSU tote for my birthday
  12. Personally I would try & give yourself at least another two day, but thats just me. You are half my age so you've got a lot more energy:smile: edit to say--perhaps I'll actually answer your question! My surgery was on a Thursday and I went back to work (desk job also) the Monday a week later--so I had 12 days altogether-with weekends I am also a wimp
  13. I had the ends of two different stitched hanging out (5 incisions) I waited about till about three weeks out and plucked them pretty easily with tweezers
  14. Tiffany & Co. | Item | Frank Gehry® Torque hoop earrings in sterling silver. | United States <--click this is mine :blushing:
  15. that was my point as well. My insurance pays for 4 fills the first year and I have to pay cash for any after that.
  16. My first fill was done under Fluroscopy, but every fill since then was just done by the PA in the office. If there is not a question about if my band is slipping, too tight etc, then I don't see a reason to spend the extra money I could tell where everything was located on the fluroscopy by looking at my underwire bra!!
  17. No, the original poster is stating that they read on here where people are 2 weeks out and only lost 15 pounds and are complaining about such a "small" amount of weight loss. In the second paragraph she states that she's not banded yet
  18. Congrats!!! I visited Onederland on Wednesday and Friday and hope to be living there by next weekend :tongue_smilie:
  19. I had a conversation with my NP during my last fill that sounded just like this! (The needle was sticking out of my stomach at the time :tongue_smilie: ) I told her about how many people I see on here that type just what you see. I also told her that if I ever have more then one episode of getting stuck/throwing up etc that can't be explained by my own stupidity--I'm coming in to get an unfill. I lost 5 lbs in the six weeks between my last two fills but guess what, the scale is going in the right direction!
  20. Your surgeon should've told you both of these things FOR ME--that doesn't mean you also--lifting nothing more then 10lbs for 2 weeks and no ab excersizes everyone seems to recommend as much walking as you feel comfortable doing, pretty much straight out of the hospital
  21. This My mother told me more times then I can count not to worry about what other people think. 42 years later it's sinking in. Other possible answers would also be: "I can eat whatever I want in moderation, that looks like a pretty big sandwich Bill, don't you thinks it's too big for you?" "You have gained a few since Christmas, haven't you Jill?" "Is that a spare tire I see Janice?" "My, but your face is puffy today Dean--too much salt in those potato chips?" and the proper answer to "How much weight have you lost" when coming from someone who is just being nosy and doesn't actually care how much you've lost is: "How much money do you make?" when they answer that question, you'll answer theirs The out and out rudeness some of you people type about--parents, siblings and spouses saying these things??? A direct response is what they need, they are not helping, only hurting.
  22. I certainly wished that the weight would fall off like water off a duck--However I really don't have enough money as it is to keep buying new clothes--and I'm not losing at marathon pace or anything. elgrad--it's like the stock market according to Warren Buffett, in it for the long haul I think you have a healthy attitude
  23. I had 4 magazines, my cellphone and a fully charged iPod. I ended up sharing my room with two snoring men (I'm a girl) Not a happy camper but at least I had something to do all night. I purchased Gas-X previous to the surgery and it's not been opened. Never had a reason to use it.
