First fill zero restriction?

Recommended Posts

Had my first fill on May 2. The PA found the port with no problems. When she put the needle in she took the primer that was already in the band out to see how much was in there. Then she did the fill.

I think she put less then the amount of the original primer back in because I have zero restriction. It's like I don't even have the band in me anymore.

I go back the 29th and hope that this is resolved.

This is really really not uncommon. I wish docs were more clear about this. Many people take 3-4 fills (or more) to get restriction. I was told that in fact it might be up to 6 months before I really "felt" it.

It's a process; it will happen, but many docs think aggressive fills are counterproductive and in fact can cause problems down the road. Hang in there!

Dont worry. Thats normal. I had no restriction until the 3rd fill and WOW!!!! Be careful what you wish for. I definitely have restriction now. Its different for everyone. My doc does a fill, gives me a glass of Water and waits to make sure I can get it down, because sometimes they can make it so tight that you cant even sawllow your own saliva. Maybe your fill will work on the 2nd one, maybe the third. Good luck!

I was just the opposite. I went in yesterday for my post op (surgery on April 14) check-up and fill...Or so I thought. Right after surgery I had so much restriction I had to have 1 1/2 CC's removed because I couldn't swallow Water. That made all the difference in the world. No problems since then. Now I am ready to progress to regular food no more just "soft" foods.

The NUT said I was eating the correct amount of food and lost 6 lbs since surgery and wasn't hungry. She said that is the way we want it. Then the Dr said I probably was a little swollen still and would probably need a fill next month. If I needed one sooner to call and they would work me in.

Guess I am one of the lucky ones to not be in Band Hell for long...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
