Day 7 Post Op - Sharp Pain in Center of Chest

Recommended Posts

What is going on?!?!

I keep getting this really sharp pain in the very center of my chest and what almost feels like a burping sensation, but I don't need to burp.

If this is heartburn...I guess I've never really known what heartburn really was.

Anyone?

:smile2:

You're still on liquids right? Does this just happen whenever or when you are drinking? If while you are drinking, are you taking SIPS (as opposed to big swallows). If you take swallows that are too big, you can get a painful sensation that could be the equivalent of getting a too-big or poorly chewed bite of food stuck later.

Hmm...maybe that's it. I have been trying to get more fluids in today. Maybe I'm over-doing it.

Thank you...I'll see how it goes.

Its a gas bubble. Its from them pumping air into you during surgery.. its was def the most painful thing post-op I dealt with. I just walked around and steached alot... but I never laid down flat...ever!!!

It will go away but it takes some time.

Good luck!

It is gas...

I laid down for a while and it's like there is a freakin' air parade going on in my chest and abdomen.

Lord help me...

I've been taking Gas X like crazy. Time to give Phazyme a try I think.

The heating pad will work wonders...and you can apply it to wherever the gas chooses to travel. Walk, walk, walk. Can't emphasize that enough. Moving will help tremendously. Hold your arms over your head some, which expands your ribcage, which may make it easier for the trapped gas to move.

I to had this problem. I did the gas-x chewables, with no relief. My wife went to the grocery store to get some more carnation instant Breakfast and brought home the sugar free kind with 2x's the Fiber. Bingo! that did it. Got every thing moving! My daughter says "papa you sound like a tug boat" lol. I still cant burp well but got the gas getting out like a champ. Try it.

Fiber --- I figured I wouldn't be getting the minimum daily requirement after surgery so I bought some Benefiber. In the morning, I make a "vitamin cocktail" that I drink on the way to work. I fill a large glass with tonic Water (I need the quinine to stop leg cramps but you can use plain water). I put in a "serving" of Benefiber and an evervescent Vitamin and a package of Crystal Light Focus Natural Citrus Splash. I figure I take cre of just about everything with that one glass of liquid that counts toward my water for the day! You could use liquid vitamins instead of what I chose. I haven't had any Constipation and I know I'm getting my Vitamins. The particular Crystal Light I use has 40 mgs fo caffeine and first thing in the morning, that's not so bad either!

I had this too and the only thing that helped was to lay on my right side till it went away,, it was the fastest way too.. I'm 4 weeks out today and haven't had that for the past 10 days,, there is still a lot of pulling on the muscle around the port site when I stretch but I am really feeling great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
