How is your port?

Recommended Posts

So I'm wondering about this port or alien in me... It gives my significant other the creeps a little bit. Will it always stay like this or does it settle down into your body later? Mine feels kind of startling now but I'm hoping when I become flatter it will sink in deeper. I don't know if that is correct though because the fat layer fat covering it will become thinner and it seems the port would be even more noticable. I also think I read in here that someone had to have their's repositioned?? How is your port?

Oh, yes mine is still there! I feel it all the time, occasionally it's a little uncomfortable or sore. If I bump it, ooh it hurts! I've had mine for almost a year and it's still a little bump.

I only feel mine if I push on it. My doc put mine in the fattest part of my belly but Ive lost over 70lbs and still barely feel it...I can lie flat though and feel it...I wonder why yours is so close to your skin surface?

I can feel mine. I just asked my hubby and he said it doesn't bother him.

Keep dreaming. ;o) The port isn't going anywhere and the more you lose the more it sticks out.

Think of a turkey timer, that red thing that pops out of a turkey when it's done cooking. When yours pops out you'll be done losing. ;o))))

You'll get used to it.

That's so true! Mine sticks out like a sore thumb...and sore it gets when I hit it, lay on it the wrong way, or when I think someone is going to mash on it-ha!!

My doc said because of how my fatty layer was to begin with, meaning not too much in that spot to begin with, he really had no other place to put it. he did tell me he could relocate if I wanted to. Not right now or anytime soon. I actually get a kick out of letting people see and touch it when they're really interested on how I have lost all my weight and the whole Lapband thingy!! Heck, it's my 14k show-and-tell anyways so why not?!!

I just had to have mine repositioned because after 11 weeks of pain everytime I use my abs or sneeze. He concluded that the metal claw holding it into the muscle was sitting on a nerve and he moved it, removed the claws, and sewed it deep into the muscle. Problem solved!! I can't feel it, even when I go looking for it (now). I was cautioned that as I lose, it will become more visible. Once I get to my goal weight and go for plastic surgery, my surgeon will be there with the plastic surgeon to reposition it againg and change it out for a "low" port that is skinnier for the long term.

Hope this helps!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
