Hi Sissy,

can you please add me to the "April Hopeful" list? Thanks!

About the signature thing: I am usually very good with computers, but I have created and saved a "signature" and it isn't showing up. I have tried everything I can think of and can't get it to show up. Anyone else ever have this problem when you were new on the site?

thanks!

Sherri

Hi guys

To get your own ticker: First, click on anyone's ticker. A new window should open up. You choose create your own ticker and click on the weight loss areas. Choose the background for your ticker (16 pages to choose from) then choose next and choose your marker then choose next then enter your details (including a password) and voila it is created. Copy everything in the bb code area and then go to your profile, click where it says customize profile (to the right just under your name) and then click on edit signature and paste the code you copied from the ticker web site. Save and you are all done. You can preview signature first before you save if you like.

Great job!

Hopeful, I have no idea about the peep but maybe trying putting a return before the weight/BMI ticker (so that it is on a separate line. Groupie may know more.

On another thing, what the dickens is a "peep" - I've never heard that expression in relation to Easter. Is it an American thing. I'll ask Lise (my partner), who is American but in case she doesn't know either ...

It's ok - don't worry about answering. I think she was surprised I'd never heard of them (we're forever discovering things we each don't know about or which we call differently eg., in the USA its a trunk where we call it a boot, etc, etc). For any aussies out there who were in my shoes when it comes to peeps (ie., oblivious), peeps are marshmallow things (usually yellow or pink) moulded into the shape of a chick or bunny.

Yep, Hopeful- I think you need a 'return' between your tickers. And did you just highlight and copy the picture of the sig?

Pharma- A peep looks just like the pink bunny...made of white marshmallow coated with bright colors and crystal sugar...they now come in all kinds of shapes. The first ones were baby chicks...so 'Peeps'.

My doctor hasn't given me any 'rules' to really follow leading up to surgery. I am currently reducing my carb intake so that when I do go on liquids I wont deal w/the withdrawl on top of possible hungry and overall discomfort from the procedure. PLUS if they band me when they currently plan to I'll be dealing w/af @@ at the same time! when it rains it pours lol

How are you guys today?

What kind of pills do you have to take Doodlebug? I hope that everything works out for you!!! What an anxiety provoking thing though - to not know if its going to happen or not! Hang in there!! I have to take 8 pills a day, 4 in the morning and 4 at night, 2 Previcides, and 6 antibiactics. They leave a bitter taste in my mouth  but maybe the more they get in my system the more that will leave ( Or at least I hope so ) and thats not counting all my vit. But I'm determined to be a BUNNY BANDSTER also. So you guys keep me in your prayers!!! Don't you guys run off and leave me behind, OK lol :)

Same - I am really struggling. What are you eating? I have had 2 Optifast chocolate shakes VOMIT :tt2: and 1x Optifast chicken Soup (which I just read the back of the packet expired 2 weeks ago but I cannot be bothered taking them back!) but the Soup was by far nicer and a bit more like "food" I am SO FREAKING excited bout my veges tonight - you could tell me I am having 10 Big Mac Burgers and I couldn't be more excited than I am right now! hahah.:)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
