JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

Well I guess I am the first one here! I just got my surgery date and it is set for June 2nd at OHSU in Portland Oregon. I am so excited! It has been a long journey to get to this point and I am so glad to have a date even if it is almost 3 months out. Anyone else out there get a June 09 surgery date?

Hi Padanelle, does this mean I motivated you? If so it sure feels mighty fine to me! Let us know how you go on.

Elle, you definately inspired me. I had all of the best intentions to start the month out with a nice long walk. Wound up cleaning the closets & that tired me out. In the words of Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day."

Love walking. Also love my restriction. Takes me so long to eat a meal, I lose interest. Few swallows, feel the pain, wait for it to subside. Chew a little, swallow a little wait for burp, do again, do again, wait for hiccups to subside, food's cold, oh well. Forget about it.

I hope I get more restriction with my next fill (Sept 12th). I have been stuck at the same 18lbs lost for over a month now (but at least I haven't gained any). I look forward to the "Sweet Spot" I have heard so much about.

It'll come. I'm in Onederland, baby. Two days in a row so its official.

CONGRADULATIONS!!! *golf clap* *golf clap* YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Congratulations on your Onederland! I can hardly wait to get there... seems like forever! I need to lose 2.5 lbs to be there!

Thanks people. Its such a relief to be in Onederland. In fact, its onederful. Having good restriction is very much the key. I'm careful, too, of course, and I follow the rules of the tool. Went down a slide with a grandchild for the first time in forever yesterday. WHeeeee!

I hear you! In the last month I am down 3lbs which yes it is great that I am not up but geez did I need a fill. I got my 4th one today she only wanted to do .5 cc at a time now because of the amount so will see tomorrow if it did anything or not.

Hello everyone just wanted to check in I had my third fill yesterday, I am down 32lbs, and looking forward to "onderland". Dr. T said I should really feel this "fill" work some wonders and its only been a little over 12 hours and I must that I feel a big difference from the last two fills so hope I can get to "onderland" with this fill. Surgery was 6/5/09.

Can anyone tell me how to get one of those little weight tracker things at the bottom of my post that shows my progress ??

Oh okay it's "onederland" and not "onderland" sorry and I love that quote "The Rules of the Tool".

I'm still struggling with the restriction after my second fill. I experience tightness, sliming or PBing almost everyday. I'm trying very hard to work on my eating habits, but I think I should have some saline taken out before I do some damage. Wishing it wasn't raining so hard. I like to walk home after a fill. Its about 1.5 miles, and at the rate I'm going, I'll never make my 20 mi goal this month.

I drink a protein shake in the morning when I'm tightest. Sometimes for lunch too, and even supper. If you can hang in there, after you lose a few more lbs your band will naturally be looser because the fat pad underneath it will shrink.

Good Luck with the fill. Restriction is great.

Hi Padanelle, it's taken me 3 weeks to get used to the restriction from my 3rd fill. I had to stay on soft foods for 2 weeks after this one (or starve in the bathroom). I also discovered a few foods I can no longer tolerate and the slime is an issue with only one of them so far but that was scary the first time indeed. No PB so far. I start my day with a protein drink too, after a cup of tea which seems to open up the site, or maybe that's psychological only. As for your walking, if you're not taking much in then there's no urgency to be putting it out either. Deal with one issue at a time. That 20 mile goal can be for next month instead when you're feeling more settled.

I work from home but had to go into the office yesterday and I bought a new outfit specially. It is 3 sizes less than when I started my post op diet and not from a specialised plus size store. I started at UK size 30 and am now 24. Some people who hadn't seen me since before my op did a double take, others just stood wide mouthed unbelievingly and as I expected, there were a few just didn't make comment at all. C'est la vie!

Off to the gym now to work towards that size 22.

Have a great day

Hi Louise,

Thanks for the encouraging words. I had a bit of an unfill today, and glad I went ahead and did it. It's been 6 weeks since my last fill, and seemed to be getting worse instead of better. I guess the next several days will tell.

I walked home in the rain after the unfill, so have now completed 5 miles of my 20 mile goal. I'm glad I didn't set it too high - enough to challenge me, but doable.

Congratulations on showing off your smaller size at the office. You must feel so great! I haven't bought any new clothes yet, as I have a closet full of descending sizes, including several still with the price tag on them. It is such a great feeling to be able to wear things I haven't been able to fit into for ages. No one has really commented on my weight loss, but I know I look and feel so much better, so that keeps me going.

Cheers!

Joan

OMG!! I now know what restriction feels like (ouch!!). I have to get used to not inhaling my food!! I am really glad to finally have this feeling though.

Here's to a new me!!
