Hello I am new to this forum..I have never done any networking like this before so please bear with me. I recently had lap banding done 3/2/09. I would like to meet people who also had this procedure done. So far so good, just wondering if anybody has any suggestions on what to eat. My physician has me on mechanical liquids, I have been eating Jello, broth, diluted cream Soups, slim fast, and Protein Shakes. Just wondering if anybody has any other ideas. Thanks

Hi there, Congrats on your surgery. I am having mine on Weds. I'm very excited. I was wondering how you were feeling as far as pain and being able to move around? Thanks and Good Luck:thumbup:

I am with you guys......I am being banded on the 10th and I do have to say that I am getting really really nervous. Is this normal? I am worried and second guessing if I should do this or not. I have been so ready and excited until yesterday and now I am scared. Anyone else feel that way or did you feel that way prior to surgery?

When I first came out of surgery I had very little incisional pain. Most of my pain was left shoulder pain and gas pain. My physician had prescribed a morphine PCA which seemed to work really well but I slept for a 4hour stretch and didn't push the button. I woke up in excruciating pain!! I was able to get it under control fairly easily though. I ended up staying just 1 night in the hospital and then I was discharged with Lortab elixir, it tastes horrible but works great! I am still taking it morning and night but not at all throughout the day. As far as activity I was up walking the halls @ the hospital about 4hours after surgery. The more you walk the better you will feel. It doesn't always feel the greatest getting in and out of bed but once you are up you feel good. Plus it also helps to move that extra gas out. The trick that I found that worked the best for me getting in and out of bed was right before your going to stand take a deep breathe, when you are going to stand let that breathe out, trust me it works really good on minimizing the pain. I hope this has been helpful...Good luck to all of you! By the way I was extremley nervous prior to having the surgery too, but I couldn't be happier and as of now I don't have any regrets.:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
