Surgery Wed, 3/4 and I'm so afraid

Recommended Posts

I've finally have reached the point of getting lap band and I am so scared. I have been crying on and off since I came home from work. I talked to my Mom and I can tell she is worried about me and that makes me cry. I was not going to tell her because I knew she would worry, but my family keep saying

"you better tell her, what if she calls, that will be really bad" I keep thinking what if something goes wrong, what if I have major complications. I'm crying has I'm writing this message.

I am ready to get it done, but right now I wish it was over.

Thanks for letting me vent

Hey congrats, your big day is tomorrow. Yahoo, everything that you worked so hard to complete has now come to fruition with your surgery tomorrow.

Stay away from the phone. Unplug it as a matter of fact. You need "Me" time. Yep, that's right, you need permission to be by yourself and mentally wrap your head around your surgery.

What your going through is normal. We all have fears and concerns of the unknown. Every surgery and procedure is different, so I won't bother telling you my story. But I will tell you that what your feeling right at this moment is very normal. and many of us have gone through it.

Give yourself a break today; wait that sounds like a t.v. commercial. Allow yourself relaxation time to night as you prepare for tomorrow and begin your journey. Remember why you want to do this. Give yourself a chance at having a healthy life begining with tomorrow's surgery.

Good luck!

Hi, I too am going into surgery tomorrow. I’m a bit nervous, and have bitten off all my nails. Whenever you have surgery there will be risks, but don’t you think that obesity is a greater risk. I’m worried that you are so distraught; remember all Moms are going to worry. Good Luck.

I was fine until I got into anesthesiology, then I started crying uncontrollably. I wasn't worried about the surgery, I was realizing that after this, I have NO EXCUSES anymore, that I won't be the lovable fat girl, I won't hide behind joking about my weight, etc, and that it what made me sad. The surgery is nothing, yes, it is painful, but after all the pre-op testing, counceling, etc, we are all ready...so don't worry!! I am one week out and I feel great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
