Having Surgery August 26, nervous, mad and excited

Recommended Posts

Well, the insurance denied me AGAIN and told us that they can do nothing because of the exclusion in the company policy (which is totally discriminatory) and instead of hiring a lawyer and pushing the surgery down another atleast 2 months we decided to just pay for it. I feel bad that I am having this and getting thin while my family has to stay obese and I am moving out next summer and just feel selfish for having this done, even for a medical reason. I WANT and NEED it so bad, just feel bad for the family income problem. Atleast the insurance will pay for the pre-op and post-op testing and stuff, just not the surgery. I am having the surgery next Friday and have never had surgery (that I can actually remember) and am nervous about that, but I am SOOOOO excited about starting over, and yet mad as hell at Mom's company for the exclusion. Just wanted to let you all know about the surgery.

Congratulations Jodie. It sounds like your family just wants the best for you. The surgery isn't bad at all so don't get to worried about it.

Best wishes.

I am so happy for you. I am a mother too, and believe me when I say, your family will not think you are selfish. We will do anything for our children, especially if it is for health reason. Just think, one day, you can pay them back for all of this, if you want.

Good luck with your surgery, and keep us posted. I have been praying for you, and I must admit, a little worried about you. Keep your chin up, and know this is the beginning of a new life! A heathly life. As far as the surgery, do not worry, you will be fine. If you have read all the posts here, you know exactly what to expect.

Blessings my child,

Congratulations! Just think, if this surgery does all the things you want it too, it wont take long for you to be able to pay your family back. My mom paid for my surgery, and says she doesn't want to be paid back, but I fully intend on it, even if it means paying for a super cool vacation or something instead of actually giving her the money.

It's really great that you can get this done, I'm very happy for you! Your mom could try appealing to the HR department of her business. If they pay for the surgery for you and then get the denial overturned some people are reimbursed for paying for it, instead of waiting.

Jodie - I'm in the same boat, except I had to get financing which sucks but right now I'm paying more for gas in my car than my band!!! Anyways, congrats and I hope to be banded soon too!

Jodie,

I am so glad you are finally getting what you have wanted for so long! You know, you can always feel guilty about something. Just don't make this one of those things. You are doing the right thing. Wishing you the best with surgery!

No regrets Jodie!!! You need this. I also had to self pay, and everytime I want to eat something bad, I tell my self that I have spent over $10,000.00 and remorgaged my house, do I really want this? I had to put myself before my family also, but it is cheaper than a funeral!! You take it and go !!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
