lap band surgery with hiatal hernia repair

Has anyone here had a hiatal hernia repair along with their lap band surgery? If so, how did it go? was the recovery longer or about the same?

Yes, I did. I don't think it impacts recovery at all. I haven't had GERD since then. It's a good thing.

I wasn't aware that I had a hernia but it was discovered during surgery. My surgeon stitched it right there. I don't believe it caused me additional recovery time at all. Except for the gas, I was feeling fine the next day.

I had the same surgery. Found out about the hernia when the doc came in just before surgery. I don't think it impacted my healing in any way. Both of my parents have had hernia surgery on its own and said the recovery was the same as mine was for both.

My doc told me a HH is present about half the time and has to be fixed. I had one. Didn't add much to surgery time and I don't think anything to recover time.

I'm glad for the input. It puts my mind at ease. One less thing to worry about.

Just had my surgery on Monday and I had a small hernia. Recovery has been tough. More pain than I expected.
