how to fly from Toronto to Tijuana directly.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I`m considering Ortiz, i want to fly from toronto to Tijuana and not go through U.S.

I have heard there are lot of problems going to Mexico via US for Canadians, and i dont want to pay for the surgery and not be able to have it because of immigration rasons.

Can some one please let me know this, and can canadians share their experience going to Mexico via U.S? Do the immigration officers dont like people going to Mexico via U.S?

Thanks

Why not call the airline and ask them for guidance? Or get a direct flight.

You really should look into this more because your going to pay a lot more to fly directly into Tijuana then you would to fly into San Diego.

I am a US citizen so it was a little different for me but when I went to Dr. Kuri, who holds his practice at the same hospital that Dr. Ortiz does, and we just took the van that Dr. Kuri provided straight from the airport not stopping at the border into Mexico. Then coming back we had to stop at the border but still got through really easily. I am not sure if Dr. Ortiz provides transportion like Dr. Kuri does but I am sure that would help if he does.

I run a support group in Vancouver and numerous members have been banded in Mexico. I have never heard any of them comment on having problems at the border and all of them are ~very~ happy with their surgeries.

You should look thru the Canadian boards on here to hear about some Mexican experiences for Canadians....

All the best and good luck !!!

Patricia

Did you get this figured out?

I am in Ontario but closer to Ottawa. The flights are triple to go from here to San Diego and they pick you up from there. I will go from Syracuse for sure when I can get $$ figured out to go.

I know I am not Canadian but here was my experience.

I live in Florida and so I looked up prices for when I went. The price to fly directly to Tijuana's airport was 4 to 5 times more then going to San Diego first of all. So I flew to San Diego's airport. I went to Dr. Kuri who operates at the same hospital that Dr. Ortiz does. Dr. Kuri's staff came and picked me up at the airport. We crossed the border into Mexico without stopping so there was no problem getting into Mexico. Then coming back we took the same route as the charter and tour buses. We did have to stop coming back into the US but border patrol was nice and easy to go through. With all the proper documentation you really shouldn't have a problem not to mention you most likely would be with a group of other patients so the border patrol seems easier about crossing the border with a group.

Best of luck to you.

I think that would not be a wise idea. You wouldn't want to fly into TJ right now, it would be safer for you to go to San Diego and have them drive you in from there.

The last thing you want is to be in TJ alone right now. It's just too dangerous. Go to San Diego.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
