iwalktheline, I think we are all scared before surgery. I found talking to others who have had the procedure really helped me. You will do fine, I am two months out and am very happy I did not chicken out.

Hi Walk

I know how you are feeling. I was just banded on Friday and by Thursday last week I was a wreck! When I was in pre op my foot was twitching a mile a minute, the nurse asked if I had to go to the bathroom! I said no it's just nerves, my shoulders are up to my ears as well! LOL But I have to say, and I know this is early still, but for me it was really not bad. Friday night I had a popsicle and walked the halls at the hospital a few times. The only pain meds I had was a shot of toradol they gave me on Friday night, I have not had any meds since. I had no nausea either.

I wish you the best!

Hello  You will be so happy you had this surgery once it is all said and done. It may not be peaches and cream right after the surgery, but once you get through the tough parts you will find that you had more strength in you that you ever thought  Happy banding and I can't wait to see how you are doing after surgery!

thanks for all the positive remarks. i know i am doing the right thing. babbs i noticed that it states you only lost 17 pounds. is that correct. can you explain your situation a little more. i hope to lose 80 pounds. hopefully 50 in the first year. i am a real foodie. i cook big delicious dinners everynight for my family and self. i love to read cook books and watch cooking shows. that is what scares me the most. im sure you can all relate.

Wow ,do I remember that feeling .I was banded last week 01/14/2009 .I was so scared I thought that my heart was going to jump out of my chest .I also knew this was my last chance at finding the really me . I have been overweight a greater part of my life and have heard so many rude comments ." Oh your so pretty ,Why don't you lose the weight ",or I had one lady ask me when I was "due ",well that hurts . Being the big girl I just laugh it off when deep down my self esteem was so low I did not know how else to handle it . I came to the conclusion I needed to take control of my life .This so far has been the best thing I could of done for myself .The surgery went fine ,and as the days go by I feel better ,and better.

Today I will go for my first walk outdoors ,and I 'm looking forward to it . I wish you much success and know you will be fine just breathe deep and remember why your doing this .

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
