Belching after eating?

Recommended Posts

Let me just give you a brief intro, was banded 4-23-08, one fill, still have restriction, but I think I'm eating too fast, I take big bites, barely chew, (Believe me I know this is bad) (In the beginning I was terrified to get anything stuck but now that I have "tested" my band, I know what I can get away with. After a few bites, I get pressure, which i do stop, and then an enormous need to belch, which i do eventually. Once I belch, I could eat some more, question is should I? I know I have fallen back into bad habits, thanks to the holidays. I think I want another fill, but doc says that if i still have restriction, if he puts anymore in, I'll be PGing a lot. He says you should only come see me when you can eat a lot more and feel less/no restriction. WHat do u guys think? Does belching mean I'm eating too fast or too much? I feel like if I was at a "sweet spot" I would HAVE to eat slow and chew really well. People that I know that are banded are surprised that I have only had one fill.

Hi Katie,

I know where ur coming from, i have been banded coming up on 8 years, i still burp like crazy...unfortunatly its usually from eating too fast or on the run and it helps the food go down. I would just do everything you can to slow down, if u do eat to fast and need to burp i would do it cause, really, why feel miserable?

It takes time and concious eating, focus on ur body while you eat. Believe me it helps!

I would like to give u some advice if you'll take it....Dont fall into the trap of thinking you need a fill everytime you fall because it may just be that you eat the wrong food which make you hungry faster, getting to the sweet spot is a bit like a carrot dangling...you want it so bad you just keep getting fills :-) Thing is im thinking that if your eating bad foods and 2 fast you wont know if your at the sweet spot because ur not following the rules and getting to the "sweet spot" where the band stops you eating crap may also be too tight to eat the right foods.

Sorry for the rant but i have been there and if its not the case with you then just ignore me lol

Bel

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
