Orange Juice a NO NO for me

Recommended Posts

I think I overdid it big time today. I am 4 days post op and I drank a glass of fresh squeezed OJ. I was already feeling kinda bad when I was making it...The feeling I used to get when I hadnt eaten in way too long. So, I took a few big drinks (with no water) and then it was down hill from there.

I pressed on and went to a friends to play cards and had to abrubtly leave because I felt/feel so nausious.

I came home and took a nasea pill and now am sitting here just "waiting it out" :(

Do you think it was from the sugar in the OJ? Or that I just overdid it today? It had been quite a while since I had "eaten" anything and it took a lot of work/standing to make the juice in the first place.

Thanks for that. I believe it was all due to the OJ now. My hubby said that I wasn't supposed to drink it, that the dieticion said that. But, I didnt remember at all. Then, when I looked online I seen you are not supposed to drink it post op.

I was able to "sleep it off" so that was good. I will mention it on monday at my follow up.

Was there a lot of pulp in the juice? That could have "clogged" you up... or maybe it was because you drank it too fast and your body wasn't used to it yet.

Glad you are feeling better now.

I think there may have been a lot of pulp. I strained it really well, but when i looked at it today, it was settled to the bottom and it looked like a lot :)

Whatever the reason, I am not going there again.

Thanks for your help!

I was told no OJ post op due to the acid in it. I hate apple juice and the other options so I didn't drink juice.

Hmm, no one told me anything about OJ and I've drank a lot of fresh squeezed since I got my band (Feb 08)

Never had a problem but then I drink everything slowly as even Water will give me a problem if I drink too fast

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
