Consult Visit Scheduled!! Yay!

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I went to another seminar last night held by a different doctor and was really impressed by the presentation and the information given about the program. The good thing is that their fee isn't the outrageously high $3000.00 as the others. This program fee is $750. Which is so much fore doable than the $3000.00 Honestly, I felt more like a Dollar sign than a human being at the previous seminar! Be a good doctor, be a great doctor! But don't charge patients an arm and a leg just to prove it!

Anyway, after the presentation, I spoke with the coordinator and scheduled my consult visit. February 12. 2009... this could possibly turn out to be the best Valentine Day gift I could ever hope to receive!! Wish me luck!

Hi,

I just read your post and I am thinking about having lapband surgery. Do they charge for the seminars? Is that what you are talking about when you are saying program? Or is that somethng all together different? ote=tennleslie1;1119779]Okay, so I went to another seminar last night held by a different doctor and was really impressed by the presentation and the information given about the program. What does the $3000 cover and what does the $750 cover?

Hey Guys!

Thanks so much for the well wishes. The seminars are free..at least both that I attended. The program fee for the $3000 includes: (as listed in my info. packet)

*oversight of your bariatric behavior modification program (still not sure what that is exactly!)

*coordinating services related to your surgery

*24 Hour bariatric hotline answered by a registered nurse with special bariatric training

*diet education by a registered dietician

*exercise retraining initiated through consultations with an exercise physiologist

* follow up visits pertaining to weight loss surgery for the first 12 months

The $750 program includes: (as per the packet I received)

*nutrition consults

*exercise consults

*3 month wellness center memebership

*monthly support groups (although I didn't know one had to pay for support groups....do they??)

*pre-op education classes

*post op nutrition classes

*insurance and financial counseling

*testing and counseling coordination

*assistance with medical record obtainment

*30 day supply of post op vitamins

Now, I could be wrong, but aren't those programs similar? Maybe I was just offended in thinking that the first set of doctors were bold enough to think that any and everyone has $3000 just lying around in their cushions.

Thanks again for the well wishes!

I don't think neither of these are deals. Do you have other doctors in the area that perform the surgery?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
