Hi Marmar,

Do not worry. Remember, losing weight and maintaining is changing your lfie style and eating habits, LAP BAND is a tool that will help you feel full. Once you start eating less, you will drastically lose weight, you will start becoming more active, and as you lose weight and your pounds drop, your clothes fit you better you will be motivated by it, once you start losing weight and are motivated, you would want to join a gym, i can drop pounds but not keep off, so i am going for this surgery very soon.

Unfortunately the more negative stories get a lot of attention. But look around at people's weight loss on this site alone and you will see the difference it makes. I know for myself starting at over 300lbs that this is changing my life! Yes, you do need to eat healthy and exercise, but with the band you are eating smaller portions. I'm sure that most people who try to lose weight eat "healthy" and exercise, but eat too much of healthy things. As long as you follow the rules and follow your surgeon, and get fills as needed you WILL lose weight. It will take time. You will get frustrated, we all do. But that is why we come here. To hear other experiences with the lapband, and to find out what way works best for our bodies. This is an amazing site. I wish you luck in this journey!

My appetite has been tamed.

I look at food differently.

I am not eating huge portions anymore.

Before I didn't want to eat healthy because I had plenty of room for the not healthy... but now that I can only eat so much... I am finally starting to eat to live...not live to eat. I'm not wasting the space on empty calories.

If you think that kind of change will help you, then you are going to be okay.

I wish you all the best!!! I am glad you want to get healthy again!

Hi I'm 370 and I am almost at the end of the approval process, and Lap band

Is all I can think about, I am disgusted that I let it get this out of hand.

In the past I have talked myself out of this but not this time.

Good luck on your Journey and If you want a

Buddy I would love to correspond.

Thank you all for your replies. I to am discusted at how I let this happen. Ive always been big but since Ive been a stay at home mom with 3 boys Ive really let myself go. Its time I think of me. And my boys need me around for a long time. I(ve just failed so much in the past on diets that I just dont trust any diet or myself. I guess what I need is a little more will power and Im hoping that is what this gives me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
