September Bandster Check-in

I thought it was time for us to start that single September thread. I hope that everyone is doing well. Let's meet here instead of several threads. It should make it easier for us to keep up with each other.

good thinking. I'm here. :) I'm alive, and I'm eating tons less than I used to. So I guess I'm doing good.

Hi!

Just checking in... I was banded 9/15/08 in Providence, RI by Dr. Harry Sax. So far I have lost 48 lbs since my all time high in 6/08 (31 lbs since surgery). I have had 2 fills, and my 3rd fill is scheduled for 1/9/08. No problems whatsoever so far. I am very happy with this decision!

Im still here... I don't post very often but I do get on and read everyday. I am doing great. I love my band. She has become my best friend. Always there to support me. lol... I haven't been walking much now that it is cold but I recently bought a Wii Fit. So I am hoping to get my but moving again. I had my 3rd fill last week and am having a much harder time eating what I need too. Cant get in any meat at all. Hopefully that will easy up soon.

I was banded Sept 28 by Dr Symmonds, Temple Tx and so far I have lost 57 pounds and really hoping to make it to 199 by April! I am working my butt off, literally and it is finally showing.

Hello everyone! We are entering month 4 of our journey and I hope you all have wonderful success with your bands.

Well things have been going good for me so far. I am down 50lbs, and had my 4th fill yesterday. I finally feel the tightness that I hear about, I tried to have a scrambled egg this morning and had no luck. So, for lunch today it was some mashed potatos. I hope to have better luck tonight with the real food, I don't want to go back on protien shakes...

Job well done to everyone so far and keep up the good work for this new year. I know it is going to bring great changes for me, I hope it is the same for everyone here...

I'm glad you are doing so great. Be careful with that fill. Make sure you can still get your fluids down. I have yet to experience that kind of tightness. I am hoping my 4th fil on the 19th will at least get me close. Keep up the good work!

I'm going for fill #3 on Friday. Right now I have 5cc/9cc band. I feel some restriction... and don't want to get too tight, so hopefully doc will just do a tweak and not overfill me.

Good to see everyone doing so well, so far!

Hi THere.. I was banded on Sept. 23rd 2008 and so far I have lost 36 pounds.. 19 pounds since surgery. I lost 14 pounds of that 1 1/2 weeks after my surgery,so I am a bit frustrated. I can't figure out how to link my ticker to this email.. I started at 260 and my goal weight is 160. My surgeon was Dr. Anderson in Boise ID. I really like him, he has been very supportive and listens to my concerns. I have a 14cc band and am 7.5 so far. I went into have my fill on Monday (5Jan09) he said he thought I was tight enough even though I had only lost 1 pound since my las fill three weeks prior. HE says he wants me to start eating "Dry meals" I guess I have been eating soft foods and not realizing that I was not getting my Protein in. So I will start that! I need to excersise also.. Any of you excersising yet?

To add your ticker, go to the user cp and click on edit signature. Copy the bb code from the ticker website and paste it into the white box for your signature. You have to get it all or it won't show right. Here is the tutorial http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ since I know my instructions leave a lot to be desired.

Also, I think that we all are going to have to just take our time on this. I know that I have gotten very upset over my weightloss, but we are in this for the long haul. We can and will do this!:)

THANKS!! I think that worked!! I am going to be patient, I have lost 37 pounds and am feeling so much better. I went skiining last weekend for the first time in a long time and it went really good, my ski pants still fit me (however they were big on me) but still felt comfortable when before they were extremely tight.. I can also help my son strap up his snow-board after we get off the lift without taking off my skiis to help him.. Small steps to the BIG PICTURE.. :)

Exactly! We are taking small steps to becoming a healthier person. Each pound lost, is a pound that won't kill us. I am trying to look at it that way. I know that I would never have lost this much weight in such a short time on my own. I am happy to have my band. I am hoping to find whatever it is in me to make this thing work!

I am glad that I found this thread for September banders because it really makes a difference for those who where banded in Sept. versus October etc. We are on our way and need to keep focused. My brother has been a year post op the week of Christmas and he has lost almost 90 pounds and only has 30 more to go..He inspires me everyday!

That's awesome about your brother! Unfortunately, I don't have a singe member of my family to turn to for support. They are all battling health problems due to obesity and are not willing to make any changes in their lives. I just didn't want to go down that road with them any more. I am glad to say that apparently, I have inspired my cousin to have lap band surgery done. She is hoping for sometime this year.

I had my fourth fill today. I'm up to around 4.1 ccs in my 10 cc band. I can feel a difference with swollowing Water right now. I"m on liquids today, mushies tomorrow. I'll know more by saturday.

I actually gained back a few pounds and freaked out and called my surgeon to get a fill early.
