I am here as everyone else to learn as much as I can about the Lapband surgery...before and after. I am not yet scheduled and am attending a seminar Jan. 7. I am so going to do this and am excited about the process. I am a mother of 5, married for over 27 yrs. to a husband that isn't ctitical but sometimes I think that wasn't in my favor cause I have to lose over 100 lbs. I have the same history as everyone I am sure. Dieting every way possible, excerciseing to lose a number of lbs. only to regain it plus more. That leaves me where I am now. Any encouraging words or tips would be gr8. Thanks:smile2:

Just started contemplating this whole lap band thing recently...I been losing weight every year only to gain it all back. I hate the idea of giving up (atleast it seems that way) but just maybe, my body just doesn't do something right. I've been battling my weight since I was 18 going in the military and am still battling now. It's getting old! I can remember starving myself for a month trying to make weigh-ins in the military. Working out in Sauna's to lose Water weight. I've done a lot of stupid stuff to get pounds off, this has to be safer than a lot of things I have done.

I'm going to the seminar about the lap band next Wednesday. I wish you the best in your upcoming decisions and probably am going to be right there with you in mine.

I had a friend do the surgery 9 months ago. He lost 30+ prior to surgery and another 60+ since the surgery. He looks great. He was around 360 and now is around 265. He's a big body builder looking guy so he looks awesome now. So I know first hand it works and I know he was busting his butt trying to lose weight before he decided to do the surgery.

I think this surgery will give me the ability to feel full faster and recognize that I don't need anymore food. I eat and don't feel full for over 45 minutes sometimes...

I wish you the best and good luck!

HI..I am in teh same boat as you, but the difference is that my daughter, 18 has had the surgery. We come from a long line of women, all with the same body type. She decided that after dieting since the age of 12, she would no longer accept failing. She went froma size 18 to a size 4 and is loving every minute of it. I was slower to accept my reality, but my back and knees are telling me that I cannot do another yo yo. I lost 70 pounds on a low carb diet ten yers ago, and it has slowly crept back on. I have finished all that is necessary to be approved by insurance, and my next step will be the pre-admission testing. I am hoping to get a date in January for banding, but the doctor's office is thinking more likely February. I think I am more nervous of failure than of the surgery itself. Can you even imagine a diet that does not fail? I am trying to visualize that. I turn 50 at the end of 2009..will I finally be a normal size?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
