Dr. Touliatos became a bill collector in the exam room!!

Recommended Posts

I went for a fill today. Dr. Touliatos refused to do a fill because he said that I never pay my co-pay and that he "can't do this stuff for free."

I told him that I always pay my $15 copay and usually some extra. He said he couldn't treat me until it was resolved. I was so humiliated!

I was escorted into the billing coordinator's office. She finally confirmed that I did pay a co-pay each time, but that it was credited to an old balance of $150. Can you believe that! He became a bill collector in the exam room over a TOTAL balance of $150. After all of the thousands of dollars my insurance company and I have paid him.

I drove for 2 hours for this appointment, and they didn't have the courtesy to tell me this when I scheduled the appointment. The billing coordinator apologized and spoke with Dr. Touliatos. He then agreed to see me, but I declined. Sorry gang, but I just had to vent!

He was rude, but did you know you owed the old balance?

So what are you going to do about fills now?

What an a##hole. Geez, I would find another fill doctor as soon as you can and write a complaint to the hospital/clinic about him. Jerk......he should apologize to you for this.

That was so unprofessional the way he/they handled it. Find another fill Dr. and let them know why you won't be coming back.

I didn't know I owed the balance, but I'll accept responsibility and make sure that it is totally paid. I faxed a letter to the Dr. last night to let him know that I was disappointed that $160 balance came in between the physician/patient relationship. I don't think I can use him again.

I see him as a money grubbing no-good a' hole! I wasn't trying to be a dead beat. I just think it was handled all wrong. A simple phone call from their office or even when I called to schedule the fill would have been great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
