New Co Insurance BCBS of TX

I have just been informed from my employer that the beginning of 2009 we will be going on BCBS of TX PPO...I am moving from United Healthcare (which turned me down for my lapband) please could someone tell me if I have a better chance this time and what do I need to do....Thank you all so much:confused_smile:

You need to find out if the BCBS insurance your employer selected covers lap band surgery. They might have excluded it (some do, to save costs etc) Once you know that, you'll need to find out the pre-reqs. Good luck!

I have BCBS of NC. I was originally denied because they said my BMI was too high for the lapband but would approve me for the gastric bypass. My surgeon was furious and decided to appeal it for me saying they had no right to make the choice for me. The next day I was approved. I would definitely try again with your new insurance company and make sure you follow all of the guidelines. Good luck!

I too have the bcbs texas what is your bmi. I know that they require 6 months supervised weight loss visit you can get all the necessary stuff from trueresults.com I hope this helps let me know.

Sorry it has took me so long to respond just been waiting on the doctor's office....I found out yesterday that my new Blue Cross Blue Shielf of TX insurance will cover my lapband....I have to go through the 6 month process of seeing a doctor once a month and the psy appt and will be able.....Such a blessing!!!!!!
