Breast reduction b4 Lapband surgery

Recommended Posts

Did anyone get the lapband surgery after a breast reduction? If so, did your breast sag or are you considering getting breast implants or would you consider getting another breast reduction?

If you are asking 'when' to have breast reduction, you should have it after the lap band. However, if you want to make sure your insurance will pay you want to have the reduction pre-op because many insurances will not do it below a certain size.

I went to the Plastic Surgeon in Nov. and he said I should come back and see him 6 months after I have the lap band done. He said when doing a breast reduction they reduce them to be proportionate with your body size and not down to a particular cup size.

I've had a breast reduction about 5 years ago. They were supposed to be a C cup but they were closer to a D. I'm at my heaviest weight now while I am a DD they are no where near what they used to be. I am waiting on approval for lab band now. My suregeon told me that if I loose wieght they will get smaller if I gain bigger. Were they a "normal" size when you were smallest? Mine always huge even smaller. If I had to pick ~ lab band 1st. My reduction helped my confidence but smaller boobs made me realize how big my belly was. Crazy huh! I'm a little worried about how big/small they will be if I get approved for lap band.

PS It was sooo much easier to get approved for breast reduction!

thanks for all the responses!!I received a breast reduction in May 2008 (this year) and quite concerned if my breasts will sag once i loose the weight. Deciding to get the lapband will be a difficult one b/c i do not want to have additional surgeries after my weigh loss to get breast implant or breast lift. I will meet the requirements for the lapband at the beginning of next year 09 and quite concerned about how they will look. Any suggestions on what to expect?????

Never really thought about it. I'm more worried about the loose skin. My consultant was saying they are working on a plan to help bariatrics with the loose skin. Tummy tucks and breasts lifts for everyone. I am starting to worry what if I d/n like this new body! What does happen with the belly fat and arms and yes boobs?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
