Hi Andrealee and Welcome to Lapband talk! I am fairly new also and have not started the process yet. You said you are 275, what is your height? Your BMI is important. Most insurances cover the Lapband but have many requirements that go with it. You say you are healthy, you must not have any thing like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea? They play a big role in getting approved. Read thru the posts here, especially in the Pre-surgery section and you will get a ton of information. Also ask away! Everyone on here is so helpfull and will answer all your questions. The Lapband is just a tool to getting you healthy, we all struggle so much thru the years with trying to lose weight with no results. This tool is a great help in that process. If you find that the Lapband IS a good option for you then you would have to talk to your personal Dr. and get his/her opinoin and then he would refer you to a surgeon. It is a lengthy process but well worth it. Read on, I think you will like what you hear!! Good luck!! Kim

No one here can tell you if you should or should not get the lap band. It can help a person lose weight, it can be "eaten around" if the person cheats by picking the wrong foods, not following up with fills, etc. NO bariatric surgery, however, is 100% fool proof!

Have you tried dieting and exercise? You need to exercise with the band, you know....so you'll need to get your asthma under control.

Call your insurance provider and see if it covers lap band surgery; that would be a good first step. If so, find out which surgeons and then go to a seminar. They are usually very informative and can answer a bunch of questions, and bring to mind a bunch more!

Lap band is a life style change; it's a big step. But, being fat is hard to live with, too! It may be a good option for you; only you will be able to decide once you start finding out more about it!

I am 5.7 height wise i checked i am someone that can have the surgery. I want this really bad but i have to check if my health care will help with some of the cost or all  I have one doctor that does it in my area. Doctor Fox from Richland WA (tri-citys area) The cost is a lot but my health is more important then any amount of money. And yes i have tried diet. I used to go to the gym a lot, and i could run on the tredmills, and bikes for hours, but no results. I started gaining weight out of high school. I gained about 100lbs since 2006.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
