Me again! Just wanted to update on the BE.com products I received last week.

I have been really impressed with the taste so far. The pre-mixed drinks really are a nice little treat in the afternoon, like having an iced coffee without all the guilt. The Pom-Razz Sangria Protein Powder is VERY tasty - I quite enjoy it. I haven't tried the other 2 powders I ordered, but I expect that they're going to be quite decent as well.

However!!

Today in the mail I received a bill from UPS for the brokerage fees on the package. Now, I'm not naive, I expected *something* - however I did NOT expect a bill for another almost $50 bucks! And in reading the breakdown, most of that charge is to UPS directly just for doing the work.

So - added onto the already high shipping prices, it was certainly a big chunk to swallow. Next time I order (and yes, there will be a next time, because I quite like them) I will absolutely be shipping them to the little town across the border in North Dakota and driving them over myself. I'll still have to pay the taxes on them, but nothing near what it's costing for a 2nd party brokerage to do it for me.

Good Morning People I am posting this as i have found a great deal of sucsess using a product from Popeyes,

i have been banded on September 15 2009 and i have lost 101 lbs using a high protien diet ( eggs chicken and tuna) along with a protien powder called Intra pro, i am mixing my shakes with Water and they are great but with milk it is like drinking cheese cake (best is strawberry)

Intra pro has 155 calories with water and 25 grams of protien, the best shaker cup is the one with the metal wisk in the cup, put half the liquid in and shake like hell then add the rest of the liquid

popeyses will let you try the protien shakes in the store but watch out some of the Protein powders are high calories

good luck:tt2:

Hi everyone, I got to meet with Danielle last week, wanted to get my eating back on track. Terri arranged this for me. I didn't even know we COULD see her again after the initial consult. Lesson number one, take advantage of the available resources! I was happy to find out I haven't fallen as far off the wagon as I thought!

Congrats to you!

How is everyone else doing? I've hit a plateau and haven't moved past a 2 pd up and 2 pd down stage in almost 2 months!

Me too. What's with that? Mind you inches and a changes in size are occurring but I want pounds to go! Have we hit the 80% never to budge again that books hint at?

down 62 and holding.:(

First off - huge congrats to Fish - that's so amazing!

As for everyone else at a standstill - it's frustrating, I hope you all break the plateu soon!

For me - things have been moving along well... that is until summer hit and I became OBSESSED with ice cream LOL

I just want to check tho - over the last about 2 weeks - suddenly I seem WAY more restricted then I was, and I haven't had a fill or anything. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm going to try and get in to see the fill nurse in Regina in the next few days, but I can't barely get anything in without getting stuck, and Water comes up all the time because it won't go down. It's out of the blue, and really strange, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has ever had phantom restriction.

I agree. I think it's the heat. I read somewhere that could make you feel more restriction. I who have never PBed or vomited have experienced both twice!

heat could do it. I've had months now playing with restriction going up and down by .25 of a cc. Feels too tight, too lose, and it changes in-between. Sometimes ice cream won't go down and sometimes a doughnut does. There doesn't seem to be a magic number for me. Going to buckle down hard in the next little while and break this darn plateau! 9 pounds away from goal, geez! I have to do this already!

Interesting fact...I had a gascroscopy and colonoscopy yesterday. (All went well.) In preparation, I had an almost total defill done so that it would make things easier for the scope to go down. (Mind you, Dr. B said I actually didn't need to do that as he's done gascroscopies without defilling, but my gastro doctor and I felt it would be better.) What was noteworthy was, I still felt restriction this one week of the defill. Next week, I'll be filled up again.

Hint: If you ever are scheduled to have one of those, be sure to take 2 Gravol before you take that 4 litre colon prep!

Is anybody out there interested in getting this site going again? I will be banded at Maples on Oct. 12 and would love to hear from fellow Manitobans on how you're doing either pre or post op.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
