Banded 1 week ago- questions

Recommended Posts

I was banded a week ago and have had a very smooth recovery. I have a couple of questions, tho. I am having trouble sleeping, and have woken up the last 3 nights with a sort of jerking, twitching sensation in my muscles. I have been able to go back to sleep after a while, but it really bothers me! It's a feeling like I just have to move around- I literally can't seem to relax muscles, esp. in my arms. Anyone else epxperience this? Plus I did not experience hunger for the 1st few days and have been hungry at bedtime last 3-4 nights. I am at 600-700 calories, which is where nutritionist says I should be. I just am not sure how much hunger to expect. See doc tomorrow for post-op.

As the swelling goes down and you heal you will become hungrier. Whatever you do follow your doctor's instructions. The first six weeks are for healing - let your body do that. Make sure you check with your doctor tomorrow about an issues you may be insure about. We all recover differently and have different issues. I hate to use the word issues...but everyone heals differently and has different reactions to the surgery. Take it easy, rest and when you are able slowly start moving again. Stay hydrated. Good luck and congratulations!

I was banded 1 week ago tomorrow and I haven't experienced what you're experiencing but I will have this pain on the left side of my stomach. This happens mostly in the evenings but also at night and it wakes me up. I know this is only the first week so I've been writing all my questions down for my doctor. I will see him again on 12/29.

I would get terrible leg cramps...only at night while I was sleeping. OMG they hurt and would wake me up out of a dead sleep. The soreness I felt the next day was like I just ran a marathon. My doctor told me to increase my Fluid intake (water) and that really helped.

I was hungry a week after banding. Drink you Protein and keep up with your fluids. This will help diminish your hunger. I could not drink Protein shakes, but really did well with Isopure clear fruit flavored drinks at 40 grams of Protein.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
