Hi Everyone,

I got banded on 2/4. Glad I'm through the first week of the Clear liquids. I got through with minimal pain. I know this will be the best thing I've ever done for me! I'm from South Jersey down in the Cherry Hill area. Congrats and good luck to all who have made themselves a priority!

Did you have a lot of gas pains your first week and a lot of stomach growling? Thats what I am going thru I find im not hungry for anything or thirsty but i have to keep telling myself to drink more

I'm getting closer to my date and just wanted to check in...banding on the 18th.

Pre-op diet started 2/4: 287 lbs.

10 days on liquids: 266 lbs.

I just keep laughing:lol: and can't wait to finish Phase I, Phase II and get to the mushy foods already.

HAPPY HAPPY

For those who've had their's done: How is the going back to work been? I'm planning on going to Dr. Ortiz at the OCC, would like to have surgery on a Friday & be back to teaching on Tuesday. Possible or not?

Pardon the phentermine forum label on my ticker please, like the graphics & can't get the label off it:)

I just got banded yesterday, the 13th, and was pretty out of it all day yesterday ad just slept, but today im feeling much better, have some soreness, not really a lot of pain, and just doing liquids for now.

Hi all,

Just got banded on 2/11 at UCSD with Dr. Horgan. I was really nervous before hand but as soon as I was on the OR table and they gave me some medicine I was out...woke up in the PACU and they were really good about giving me pain medicine... I admit I have had a bit of pain. I'm post op day 3 now and this morning I was a little better.

I was able to pull myself out of bed..that is the WORST part..using the stomach muscles to sit up is hard! I've been on Clear Liquids..started to get a little hungry last night but just had some Soup broth and that filled me up quick! Been doing my daily 10 minute walks and been up and about the apt doing stuff. The only problem I've been having is diarrhea, but the nutritionist said that is normal. Liquids in, Liquids out. But, she recommended benefiber. I tried it but it made me feel really full in my stomach to the point of pain. It's a bulking Fiber so I think i will wait to use it until I'm a few more days post op.

Otherwise-I lost 17 lbs on the pre-op diet..The scale hasn't budged since the surgery but I bet its the fluids they've pumped me with and i feel really swollen..I know it will happen...

Anyone else having a similiar recovery?

So happy you posted that!!! I am having the same problem and I was banded the same day. I was worried because I was told you can have the opposite problem (constipation).

Other than getting up and down, I'm not in any pain.....

I was so worried too. I thought "ohmigod i have that superbug!", but i did some searches and found that its pretty normal for diarrhea after surgery. I also read that about a week after surgery as we are transitioning to fuller liquids and mushies, we will start having the constipation problem...today is my last day on clears...I've been living on chicken broth, Vitamin Water, popsicles, and water...i know the popsicles and vitamin water have some sugar but i know i can't even be taking in more than like 500 calories, so i'm not too worried. I have issues with sugar alcohols in the sugar-free products as they really make me sick and then i am living in the bathroom.

Pain is much better today...still took my lortab as i want to go on a walk with the dog. He's very good about not pulling as he can tell something is up with me and he walks very gently by my side.

Hootie, when do you transition to full liquids? What kind of Protein shake do you use? I stopped using them on the pre-op a few days before surgery because i realized they were making me sick. I have to go find a soy powder cause i also have lactose issues (I wish i could have transplanted a whole new intestinal system! ha!). Are you going on walks already? My doc wanted us doing 10 minute walks the day after surgery.

Also, how do you post a ticker with your weight loss in your posts? I want to do one but can not figure out how.

I get banded on the 16th. I am nervous, but ready. I passed the valentine party test. I have been on the pre-op diet of high protien and low carbs. I didnt cheat at all, even when my students had their valentine party. My classroom smelled like a chocolate factory. I didn't have one bite. I used crystal light to lean on. Not the same, but I am proud of myself.

I was banded on Feb. 9th, 2009. very anxious about the out come. So many people lap- banded but no one to talk to.

i just got home today, i was banded on the 13th!!! i'm feeling really good , i was up all night walking because of the vicodin made me really hyper.I'm so hungry chicken broth and jello is not doing it for me. i'm so tired today ive been dosing on and off all day!!! gd luck to everyone its really not that bad!! ginnie

Hello! My banding is February 24th too! Looks like we will take this journey together. I gained 10lbs from my last appointment to my preop appointment. Now I am on an all liquid diet. Figure my hey days are over but waiting will be smaller clothes and feeling more fit. I am so ready too. Good luck February 2009 bandsters! Marge
