Brisbane (Aust) newbie Banding 18 Dec 08

Hi, my name is Amanda and I live in BrisbaneAustralia. I have just found this website and I must say how nice it is to see so many happy and friendly people.

I am 41, a mum of 2 (toddler & baby).

I am going to get the best Christmas present ever. I even decided to have the op done before Christmas so that I was well on my way. I have always been big, but of late it has really bothered me. I have missed out on so much and do not want the next twenty years to be the same. I look at my children and know how much they need a healthy parent. So not only am I going to benefit they will too. We all will as a family – how cool is that. I am looking to being part of their activities and not being the one who sits on the side and pretends to be happy just watching…. Not any more, all I can say is look out, here comes the new me.

I would like to wish you all a happy festive season and look forward to reading and learning with you, while we discover how good life is.

Cheers for now.

Amanda:smile2:

Hi Amanda

I am new here too, just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your surgery- well done to you for deciding to have your surgery before Christmas and not putting it off to the new year.

Sue thank you for your wishes, I could not have thought of a better way to start the new year than to have plans in place to make my new year wish come true.

Will keep you posted.

And may I ask how you are going?

Hi Amanda

Well done you for taking the decision to get it done now. I know how easy it is to postpone the decision to get this done (particularly so close to Christmas) for the usual reasons and I too felt that if I left it until after Christmas, it would be so easy to completely indulge over the festive period and then beat myself up for it. Your new life begins now!

I was banded 6 days ago - and am currently having a bit of discomfort with shoulder pain following the surgery but am advised that this is quite common and should pass soon (I hope you are lucky enough not to encounter this).

Good luck with your surgery and lucky for you, the weather on your side of the globe is great at this time of year.

Have a great Christmas with your family and look forward to the New Year with a whole new regime and hopefully a brand new body (of your own making)

Go girl :)

I am doing pretty well thanks Amanda, so gald I have got my first fill becasue lots of Christmas parties coming up now and would have found it hard to resist.

its early days and I expect the restriction will wear off a bit before my next fill in 6 weeks time but am aiming to make this Christmas one where I lose weight for a change.
