New Bandie - 10/29/2008

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery at The Cleveland Clinic on October 29, 2008. Awesome experience - great Surgeon - Dr. Matthew Kroh. I received my first fill on Dec 1, 2008 - I think 3cc's. I am wondering at what level of filling the band do you really feel the restriction?

So glad to find this web site with the forums!!!! Awesome to have support!

Molly:tongue2:

Hello Molly. Unfortunately it's different for everyone. Some people have restriction from the band being put on, some with one fill, and others with 10 fills.

My magic number was 4 fills and I am at full restriction. I have 2.75cc in a 4cc band.

Brandy~ You have a 4cc band?? I have never heard of a 4cc band. Ive only heard of a 10cc and a 14cc. WOW. mine is a 14cc. does that just mean it can hold more? I dont get it.?

Different companies make different bands and sizes. Yes, it means that yours can hold more. However, the initial fills they give you are way larger than mine were. getting 3CC's on your first fill is good. Some doctors are too afraid to make the restriction too tight so they go with 1cc sometimes even .5 so you're doing good.

Oh i got 2 cc on the 3rd of this month. that was my first fill. I go back the middle of Jan for my second fill. I have a total of 5cc in my 14cc band. I do feel a lttle more restricted but i know i will need another fill. Hey i was wondering ...have you ever felt like passing out when you get stuck on something? Have you ever heard of that happening? I almost passed out last night when i was really stuck. I was stuck for almost an hour! :)

Brandy - What does full restriction fill like? Just wondering. Also I have seen people putting pb'ed in posts - what does that stand for?

At what point did you start to lose weight - beyond being on liquids. I lost 22 lbs just from that. I feel like based on what I am eating - I should be shedding the pounds anyway - but I did lose that pretty fast. Did you lose initially and then with restriction really take it off? Let me know!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
