Tam-Tam, sorry that you are stugleing girly, hang in there!

Candra, I talked to my surgeon today about the sleeve stretching and she said that it dose stretch slightly but not a lot. And the loss of the hunger hormon only last for a year in most casses.

Christine, good job on the weight loss after baby! Can't wait to get to know you, Dex is cute :w00t:

I went to my pre-opp apt today and it went well. All of my test clear me for surgery on the 25th, 11 more days! Fremont Kaiser doesn't give a relaxation CD, just the bar of medicated soap to wash your self with the day before surgery lol!

Mo, where you been girl!!!

So in the end you only gained 10 pounds!! ;-) Not bad at all, can't wait to see Dex!

Thanks everyone!

Dr. Baggs said my fill schedule will be just like it was after surgery: 2 cc's for the first re-fill, 1 cc for the second, and .5 or 1.0 for fills after that until I get to my sweet spot. I only have 2.5 cc's right now but strangely have noticed restriction SINCE having the baby! I've gotten a little bit stuck and even slimed a bit with bread/bagels since he was born. I was enjoying my breads, Pasta and rice while preggo and never had any problems.

It's weird...I don't know why I didn't feel my band while all my organs were all squished together and I can feel it now when everything is moving back to where it's supposed to be and I don't have a big ol' baby in there too!

He also said he'll give me fills every month until I get to my sweet spot. My sweet spot before getting preggo was 6 or 6.5 cc's, I was WAY tight at 8.0 and got an unfill as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I won't ever get that tight again, I was PB'ing every few days and it SUCKED.

Congrats Christine!! That must be a great feeling.

So day 1 with my fill has been good. Had a little bit of an episode last night. I took my zoloft and sat down to watch a movie and BAMB I started slimming REALLY bad, I went into the bathroom to see if it was going to come up and of course it didnt. So an hour and a half later I was done slimming. Man that was the most horrible experience I have had so far but now I know how little of bites I have to take. Needless to say I am going to break my pill in half from now on until I lose some weight. Had a Protein Shake for Breakfast because I was so tight (that has NEVER happened) was full until about 3 so when I got home I ate 3 slices of turkey deli meat and 2 slices of cheddar cheese and was STUFFED!!! My brain is back in action for sure... Wasnt hungry at dinner so I just had some bran Cereal. Even tho thats a slider I got full on a small bowl. So I am thinking that my fill is AWESOME!! Will be updating my ticker soon once the scale starts goin down again. YAY.

Pat hows your fill workin for you? What meals are you eating? I have been cooking my meals from the 1200 cal diet for my husband and his uncle so Im going to try to eat a little bit from that and see how that works.

Tam Tam you will be ok. Just be real and tell them what you are going through.

Candra I am so proud you have gotten bit by the workout bug..Can you send it my way I am a slaker when it comes to exercise now. I was so gung ho at the beginning, called myself a gym rat now not so much lol. I have two videos that Donna got for me and a ball and some bands but have I used them Ummmm Nope just once each. So i understand the Slakerness lol..

Ash how ya doin countin down the days???

Mo mo... where are you, miss ya girl.

Pam, Riley, Reggie, Heather, John, Lee, Ali, Laurel hope you all are doing good.

Well im off to an early bed, im pooped and we are going to the Water front festival tomorrow so im excited. Have a good night all!!

Ah COCO we made it together to the sweet spot..........I agree with everything you said. It has been so nice!! Not hungry here either at all and yep mornings are more of a struggle. I SO LOVE my band right now!!

Christine I didn't know you were to tight at 8ccs interesting? I was PBing 3 times a day when I was at 6cc's!! It hurt so bad I don't think I will ever want to go there again........:-) So I totally get it!!

Hi Everyone, I had to catch up on around 5 pages of posts and don't remember what everyone wrote!

Dex is adorable, congratulations!

Ali, don't you have a sleeve? I was told no pills at all until after my 1 month checkup. They said not to risk injuring my staple line, even at three weeks.

OA - I was a member till a few years ago. I started in 1989. I think that my years in 12 step really prepared me to deal with surgery and following the rules. I find the food plan to be the easiest part of post-op. As far as Higher Power, mine was the Bay Laurel tree in my front yard. Power bigger than me. I looked at the tree and said, yup, you're bigger, you're it! You don't have to have a sponsor to be in OA but finding the right fit is wonderful. For years I worked with a woman in her 80's who was a retired drug and alcohol counselor. It was fabulous. I think the 12 steps are a great way to live. I still have all of my materials and look at them on occasion and talk program with my best friends that I met 20 years ago in OA.

John, Monday is our 3 month anniversary. I have an appt with Dr. Baggs on Friday for my three month checkup. My lab work looks good but they didn't do some vital tests.

I still struggle with the weight loss. Sleeve is not an easy fix. I have to exercise 60-90 minutes, 7 days a week to be guaranteed a 1 pound loss. Eating 600-700 calories, every bite logged in myfitnesspal. com. Less than 30 carbs a day which come from dairy and calcium chews. I go to at least 1 support group meeting each week, sometimes 2 a week to stay connected to my plan. I walk at least 1-2 times a week with other WLS folks.

I'm still barfing up my Vitamins and sometimes my food which is all Protein. If I attempt 1/3 cup protein and then a little lettuce or spoon of fruit, it gives me a little surprise of saying hello again.

As far as the question asked about hunger, I've been hungry since Day 10. I eat and I'm hungry a couple hours later but not so bad that I can't wait until 4 hours to eat again. It's a different hunger, not head hunger but stomach hunger. 200 calories 3x a day isn't that much food. I'm careful to keep it to meat, dairy or seafood because it offers the most protein per 3 oz serving. It's nothing like being hungry pre-op and it takes so little to satisfy my physical hunger.

For those of you getting your fills, big big big congratulations! Wishing you so much success.

Pat, those 16 and 18's that I got from you are getting too big, but some fit and I love them. :smile2:

Ash, congrats on your surgery date! Can't wait till you're on the Loser's Bench.

I read somewhere on Obesity Help that Kaiser Southern California is discontinuing the LapBand and going to RNY and Sleeve. Who knows, Richmond may follow suit at some point. I wonder if they'll be more open to revisions at that point? There's very few banders at the support group these days.

Time to walk the lake, have to run. This afternoon is the Obesity Help support group at San Leandro Hospital if anyone is interested. I'm planning to be there.

Have a fun weekend!

Lee, you are so awesome in your dedication to this way of life. You are so good at knowing how to work things to get weight loss. With only 600 calories and all that excerices you are going to get to goal.

I was kinda of confused on the pill thing to so I emailed the doctor and she said it was fine to take them. They sent me home with a liquid stomach coater and a pill for hearburn. Both my heartburn pill and my vitaman go down good.

I have a baby shower today; I am going to have to stay away from all the goodies but thruthfully none of that stuff even sounds good so I should be fine.

I think eventually Kaiser will give up the banding too........but we will see. The aftercare alone takes up tons of the surgeons time. If I could get to goal at Band I won't revise and now things are going well. When I talked to Dr. Baggs about revisions he didn't say no, her certainly didn't say yes either. I think mostly he listened actually.

I need to kick up the exercise.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
