Hi Everyone!

I went to my apt. today and it was a bundeled appointment with the Nutritionist first, then Dr. Chu (My Sergeon), and then my Case Mgr. It lasted 3 hrs. My Nutritionist was impressed by my food logs which I just printed from myfitnesspal.com, and also was empressed that I lost 7 lbs since my orrientation on 11/22/09. She wants me to eat more carbs though!

When I saw Dr. Chu, she said that my goal weight was 225, which means that I have 18 more lbs. to go. Not bad, may take some time, but not a bad goal. So here is the big news she gave me though, I can not have RYN or the Band. Because I am alergic to acetaminophen, and must use a NSAIDs for any pain manegment, which will cause ulcers for the RYN (which I new) and also give me a high risk for errosion as well as ulcers for the band (did not know), that my only option is the sleeve at this point.

Now I was leaning that way before but I was still in a limbo up untill she made me aware of this. I had gotten different answers on this board and other boards so I was not sure. But at any rate, this is what I needed to make up my mind.

I realy like all of you and hope that you don't mind me staying as well :) I think that all of you have a lot of experience and knowledge to offer a newbie like me!

Thanks for listening :)

Hey there, good to see you all tonight. Congrats on your weight loss Tamra. one step at a time, you'll get there. It's amazing once you get on a roll.

Monique, I know the last 2 months before my fill were horrible. Maybe you can make it up in exercise, but keep at it.

My band is really working for me. My chest is really tight. Seems like thinking about food gets me tight.

ok, I'm going to go to bed... I'm tired...oh I prefer Jes.

Yay I got my little teeny weeny .25 cc fill yesterday, which was just what I wanted!! I can't tell if it's going to work because I am on clears for 48 HOURS, can you believe that??? 48! Dr.'s orders. ugh. Dr. Baggs said there was some new study that even if you just pulled the Fluid out and put it back in, not even adding any, it still increased the risk of (some fancy word that means getting too tight) for 48 hours, and they had been seeing too many people in the ER for unfills right after a fill so they changed the rules. I'M STARVING and I can't even have my soy latte!! Does anyone remember why it is Clear Liquids, as opposed to thin liquids? I'd sure like a little Protein . . . .

I had a great hour with Robin, showed her all my head hunger stuff I have been doing, my emotions log & all, She said that I am doing all the work, it's not my band. And asked me to come and talk to her lifestyles class! Wow. I had lost 11 lbs (not the 14 I was sure I could get to, but TOM of course) since my last .25cc fill in September. . . . so still losing almost a pound a week . . . . it's the weights!!

I told Dr, B I am shooting for "goal" (154) at 1 year out from surgery, which is only 2 months away. I still only got .25cc, lol! That's all I wanted. I can go back if I think I need more. I feel like the spoiled lap-band child, to tell them when I need a fill rather than vice-versa. My port is so sticky-outty and easy to reach it was a single tiny poke and he said "perfect" and was already done, and she wasn't even ready with the Water yet it was so fast. no bruise, no nothing. Fater than any I have seen on YouTube even! Painless.

OK single ladies, do not sign up for too many online dating services at the same time, and do not give out your messenger address or you will never be able to keep up! This is crazy!! 3 is my limit and there are 5 in contention right now, #3 has slipped down to #5 for lack of imagination and social skills (also because his reference has not checked in yet), #4 has moved way up and is about to replace #1 because I have gone for 24 hours without a call, email or text from #1. #2 is back in contention after a several-day absence and . . . . ah shucks, I just want to hear from #1. Actually I want to do more than hear from him :)

Skipping the gym today because I have had no food for 30 some hours and don't want to pass out - so here I am, you lucky people get me!!

Tina I'm glad M likes them! They were SO short I wasn't sure you'd be OK with them . . . . glad all is good!

OK time to go check my email Happy Thursday all!

OH! Tamra! Good job girl :-) Remember how great this feels next time you want the gingerbread!!:)

Good Morning!

Great to meet some of you at the meeting last night. Now I have faces for Candra, Tamra and Jes. :)

Riley, you sound like you're having the time of your life with all this dating. I can't wait to hop in line and do the same in a few months.

Monique, what can we do to help you be accountable and get back on track? You can do this!

Ashley, I wrote to you over at verticalsleevetalk in our Kaiser Thread.

I rarely go out to dinner, particularly on this 1200 calorie regime because it's too difficult. I went to a birthday dinner for a friend on Tuesday night at BJ's in Concord. They do have the calories on the menu which I love, but it didn't help me much. I watched the table have martini's, beer and wine while I sipped Water. My entree was chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli, no desert and even now today I'm still up close to three pounds. I had less than 400 calories before dinner knowing it would be high, so I had one 1800 calorie day in over three weeks of less than 1200 calories. It's so frustrating to eat one meal, gain three pounds and not be able to get it back off. So that's my goal of the next few days, drop those off at the bus stop along with another few pounds!

Happy Thursday! Tomorrow I get to meet with the Psych at 8am for me evaluation. :)

what are your thoughts on alcohol with the band? My husband wants to take me out this weekend after some hoilday shopping for a a drink and a movie. Can I drink wine or cranberry vodka? I imagine 1 will be my limit. We arent going to party or anything but I dont want to be embarrsed or regretting the glass of wine later. How did you all feel after a cocktail since the band?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
