Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm wanting to be banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver, and I was wondering if anyone went to him, if they liked him, does he have any hidden charges, what does he require pre-op, things like that. Thanks.

Hi

Im from NJ, I finally gave up fighting my insurance company and am flying out to Colorado to get banded by Dr. Kirschenbaum on 12/17/08. I have read good things about him. The only bad thing I read about him was that he wouldnt accept some type of insurance, and that there was 1 complication where the lapband was defective. I would have had to pay $20,0000 here in NJ. Dr. K. is just under $10,000. And he is in the U.S. of A! I think the trip out to Colorado will be quite a savings in my pocket.

I am also being banded on 12/17/2008 also with Dr K.

They do tons of this type of surgery here, but my insurance doesn't cover it so I did a lot of research and found Dr K. to have the most experience and a price I could afford to self

pay.

I am soooo excited.

Hiker, where are you staying?? I have everything ready except for the hotel.

I am probably staying at either the Hilton Garden inn on maridian blvd. or the 4 points Sheratin. They looked like the nicest hotels that werent all that high, except the Hilton Garden supposedly offers a discount for patients of Dr, k. but when we called they knew nothing about it. So its still up in the air. Hey maybe I will see you there loving life!

Hi! I was banded by Dr.K on 9.29.08. No hidden charges w/Dr.K and the only pre-op diet he requires is one week no carbs. Very simple! I think he is fabulous and would recommend him to anyone.

How long did the whole process take? From picking him, to talking with him, scheduling the surgery, and actually getting it?

[Dr.K is a very busy man! However, I think I called around the 1st part of Aug. Had my consult 8/14 and scheduled surgery that day. So, I guess it was about 8 wks

I'm also a patient of Dr. K's and I absolutely love him. I just had my first fill Friday. I flew out to CO from NC, but I chose him because I'm self-pay and he was the most affordable with the best experience that I found.

If you want to find a lot more of his patients, we all tend to gather in a thread in the Doctor's forum, called "Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum". The thread seems to always be at the top because we're a friendly, chatty bunch of girls!

Good luck to you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
