Help! What can I buy My Doctor for Christmas?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have an idea what a surgeon would enjoy as a gift? I do not want to spend more than $50-$75.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Thanks.<o:p></o:p>

A gift certificate to a local restaurant for your surgeon and spouse would be thoughtful. Or a gift certificate to a day spa. Or if you know they have a favorite charity, you could make a gift in honor of your surgeon.

Seriously, instead why not take a fruit basket to his office? That way he and the staff can share. Otherwise you don't really need to give him a gift. A nice plant or some other such thing for his office would work, too.

Nothing...you already contributed a hefty sum to his kids college fund!

Joking of course. I nice thank you note is sufficient. My husband would never take a gift from a patient...he would give it to the whole office or to one of the staff to take home.

Well, I think my doc would appreciate something for himself (if you know what I mean) and in addition, I need an idea for the PA that does my fills, anything? I don’t want to give them both the same thing. Normally I would buy a basket of chocolates, but I do want to be alive after my visit…<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

BTW, do you guys buy anything at all?<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Thx.<o:p></o:p>

I totally agree with the first lin, however, I just had a revision done by him (initial surgery was in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Mexico</st1:place></st1:country-region>...) plus he said that I had hernia and took care of it too. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Believe me, it is hard for me - financially but I feel I kind-a-owe him...<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Am I correct? <o:p></o:p>

I think if you feel compelled to buy something for them then you should. Why not purchase him a nice pen and pencil set or portfolio that holds a legal pad. I've seen some nice ones at overstock that would be nice. I would go professional and not overpriced.

I wouldn't get anything. A card would be nice but a $50-$75 gift would be kinda weird to tell you the truth. I know your heart is in the right place but I think in a year you might feel differently. He did a job, you paid him, donate the $50-$75 to a needy organization, they'll get much more use out of the money.

It's traditional to give gifts to those who perform services for you that are not in highly paid fields, like the paper boy or the guy who does your yard work. I don't see a very well paid surgeon falling into that category. My surgeon has a nice yacht sitting in the marina in San Diego; I don't think I need to give him anything further than the big chunk of change I already gave him for his work. I could see sending him a card--maybe with before and after photos of myself to show how well he did his job??? If I really felt that I wanted to do anything further, I would take a plate of Christmas goodies to his office for his staff to share, but nothing more.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
