So weird ya'll are commenting on mattress size. We have a queen size and my mom called me this morning wanting to know if I wanted her King Size mattress. They've had it less than a year and it's a very luxurious pillowtop but have figured out that they got a better night's sleep on their old rock hard mattress, LOL. So she was asking me if we wanted it. I enjoy our closeness now and would really miss that if we got a king size... Plus we're doubly snuggly because we sleep with 4 dogs on the bed and they take up half the bed, LOL!

Now everyone tell me how good I did....LOL

I went to the store and right inside the front door, are baskets full of leftover Valentines Day candy 66% off. I resisted, even though there was a bag of Reeces hearts right on top that made my own heart skip a beat. Went and got my meds and left!

You are my IDOL!!! I am not worthy!!!

Sorry been gone all day -- board meeting week here and of course they all wait until THE DAY BEFORE to dump all the work on me!! Sheesh. Speaking of....gotta run!

Hey Girlies...

Busy day...finished up & mailed out a big editing job... but mostly I'm just TIRED! I think it's because I'm on hyper-alert when dh is out of town, I know I don't sleep well, & now that he's home, I think my system crashed & is trying to catch up...

Love to all...

Just talked to Manda, she has not seen the Dr yet, he does rounds after office hours I guess. But she said she thinks it is losing some of the redness. Oh how I hope so!!!!

On a different note....my DS and DIL are talking about splitting up, and they have another baby due in August. Morons I swear!

Laura -- I've had the Kashi frozen pizza with just cheese and tomatoes, but I always added extra Protein (pepperoni) to it. It wasn't bad. Not the best I've ever had but not a bad frozen pizza. I bought more than one... Haven't tried anything else they make though.

The server is now back up, but discovered today that for some reason (the IT people can't tell me why) every back up done between Dec 8th and now apparently failed for the network files. So I lost EVERY excel spreadsheet I had done for year end and January month end. The audit is due to Italy by this Friday and I have lost 6 weeks worth of work... I need a new job. I don't drink often, but decided that taco bell for dinner and their strawberry mango fruitista with a large shot of rum would hit the spot. I may be heading off to bed before the end of The Mentalist.

Kat -- I am so glad to hear Manda is doing better!! Sorry to hear about your son and DIL.

Judy --I hope Ethan's mom continues to take her meds!!

I did do one fun thing over the weekend. I worked at a Habitat for Humanity house here in Charlotte for four hours, in the rain. But it was fun nonetheless. The realtor that sold my first house had asked all his previous clients to participate for Valentine's Day. They were working on framing and getting the outside walls covered with OSB and foam insulation. It was too wet and muddy to try to put the roof trusses in place so we only worked a half day. I don't know that I could have lasted a full day.

Sorry everyone I know this post is all over the place, but that's the kind of day I had. Here's to a better tomorrow!! (raises glass)

Eh Terry, some days they are not too bad, other days my hives have hives....go figure.

Manda said her Dr. come in tonight, and was thrilled with the progress of her ear. He said he will likely keep her through the week, and possibly discharge her to home to finish up with the antibiotics, then when they see how much is healed with the drugs then they will discuss excision of the dead tissues.

I am so beyond happy I could just dance!

Anybody wanna dance????

Kat

Thanks for the good news, Kat!!! What a relief!

SuziT... Jen seems to be doing better. She is going to the doc for a follow up tomorrow and then will start back to work on Thursday. She sounded much better on the phone today. Now hopefully I can get back to concentrating on the new grand baby due in a week.

Our church here in Alpena started Habitat in our town. We have about 15 Habitat houses in our small town. Did you hear that Millard Fuller recently died??

Sorry to hear about losing all that work. Will you be able to recreate it in time??

Law and Order SVU is almost over and then it's time for bed. Ethan will be here at 8 tomorrow morning. Everyone have a good night..sleep well.. especially you, Kat!!!

Kat -- even better news!!!:party:I'll join the dancing!! My cat loves these guys!! Watch out, she'll lick the screen, blech!!

Judy -- Yeah, I did hear about Millard Fillmore at the build on Saturday.

About the lost work - I'm not sure I'm going to try to recreate all of it, just what I need to finish the audit. I did ask the auditors to send me back everything I had sent them. The only other option I have is to go through all my sent mail and save the attachments.

I was thinking your daughter is due any time. Do you know if it is a girl or a boy? My brother has three girls and loves every minute!!

sleep well everyone. Maybe the rum will kick in soon and I'll get sleepy. I may have to go read my book for a while.

Good morning ladies~

Kat...that is really good news! I would dance but I have only had one cup of coffee and I may fall down, lol. I am dancing on the inside though!!

The downsize of the mattress will take a little getting used to (size wise) but I can tell already that I am gonna love it. I woke up with ZERO back pain. Now it looks like my bedroom is HUGE!

While we were at the casino they had Community Cafe Blend coffee in the room. OMG that stuff was so good. So my mission today is to find it at one of our local stores. I know wal-mart doesn't have it so I have a couple more places to look. I may get on the website and make sure it wasn't a 'for hotels only' blend. That would suck.

Have a great day everyone! Respect the pouch! RESPECT IT! :blushing:

Good Morning, Violets..

Winter is back!! We got 3 inches of snow last night and it's still snowing. They are saying another 3 inches by tomorrow night. It's beautiful and covers up the yucky, dirty snow so I'll allow it!

SuzieT... Kris is due next Wednesday. She's just home nesting now, really uncomfortable and bored. I keep telling her to enjoy this quiet time because in a little while she'll wonder when it will ever be quiet again.

Ethan is here and of course is playing the Wii. He'll be here until about noon and then I'll have a little time to myself before choir this evening.

Bob has his last class to teach today and then he can rest up too. It takes a lot out of him to prepare for these.

Kat.. hope the news continues to be good today.

I'm off to get dressed for the day. Everyone have a good one. BBL...

I have a Kingsize bed and I LOVE IT! Not only do we not touch... we have a body pillow that goes between us we each have our own down comforters and about 4 pillows each! HEAVEN....... we sleep much better that way..... I am always hot, with a leg sticking out and I can NOT have my face covered...... where as DH is rolled up like a mummy..... when we are on vacation and forced to sleep in a smaller bed... I usually end up pushed off the side with no covers and I wake up TICKED OFF.....

192 today.......... and a fill scheduled for later this morning.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
