Day Two and Miserable

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! Hang in there - It does get better! I foudn that when I had gas it helped to walk. I must have walked 10,000 miles on my driveway b/c I did not want to get too far from the house. I felt like crap but walked anyway and it did help. I felt tremendously better after 4 day. I am feeling back to normal now (it has been roughly over 1 month since my surgery) but I followed all the instructions that I was given to a "t". I did suck down the instructed amount of liquid loritab each night for many weeks.

It WILL get better - I questioned whether I had made the right choice or not the first several days up to a week. Now if someone asked if I would do it again tomorrow, I would in a heartbeat!

Will be thinking about each of you!

I have to say, the pain and discomfort was MUCH more than I was expecting. I think I was just so excited to have my surgery, I didn't really think about the recovery. My surgery was scheduled for 11/21...got a call on 11/20 from the surgeon and had to reschedule for 11/24. I was so anxious and nervous about the procedure and going under anethesia that, again, I didn't consider how I'd feel after. I had very bad pain in my lower back that I believe was related to the gas. Had my husband and mom rubbing my back every minute possible. A heating pad also was very helpful. I went shopping today and was very sore afterwards...came home and went to bed at 3:00PM. It DOES get better, though, and each day I feel a little more back to normal. I had some cream of potato (minus the potato) today and a slim fast...it was delicious. I am also very motivated, as I've lost 25lbs since my last PCP visit one month ago tomorrow. Today was really the only day I felt remotely like having anything more than a sip of water...I'm glad I did! It helped.

Well, good luck everyone!

The first 4 days were the hardest. I had gas and back pain for over 1.5 weeks. I used gas x strips and tylenol 3's. I was so hungry in the first 3 days. I was wondering why I did this to myself and paid for it. I am 3.5 weeks banded and lost 11 lbs. So happy I did it. You'll be fine. STICK WITH IT

I'm so glad to know I'm not alone in feeling all this pain (although sorry to hear others are going through it). Today is day 4 post-op, and I feel worse than I did yesterday, almost as bad as day 1! Everything hurts! The gas, my stomach, my back, and my chest. It even hurts when I drink water! Also, my lungs hurt when I breathe, and I think that's because of the effects of the general anesthesia. I've been doing inhalation exercises on a special apparatus to help with that.

I am just hoping I'll get better soon. This pain sucks!

HANG IN THERE

I felt the same way. It will get better. For about a week I thought "What did I do to my self". I am now a about a month out and feel GREAT! I have lost 20lbs. I go for my first fill this week. Good Luck. Alot of people feel this way. You will feel so much better in about a week.

Good Luck

Tammy

So a little update...

I drove to my sister's house (about 2 hours) on Day 4. I took the kids (niece and nephew) to the mall and Walmart. At the mall, I was feeling pretty rough but the ladies at Pottery Barn...OMG I love that store...brought me some Water when I looked particularly bad. We left there and went to Walmart where it got really bad. I was crying as we left I hurt so much. So we went back to the house, I took some pain meds, and watched a movie. Today, we did the same shopping routine plus a basketball game, and I drove home. No crying on round 2 though. Still sore and tired but a vast, vast improvement.

I think I need to remember that even though it's out-patient, at least it was for me, that it's still surgery and that's going to take some time for the body to recover from.

Maybe I'm just being a baby here....but OMG I'm in pain. My stomach feels like it's going to stretch open every time I move. The doc's office said i should be up to 4 oz of fluids at a sitting today but there's no way....anything more than a sip or two of juice/water makes me want to throw up. Speaking of that....i'm "throwing up" air which are the strangest burps I've ever had. And if my sister tells me one more time that her sis-in-law was back to work, on her feet no less!, two days after she had her band...I will find the energy to kill her. (Ok, not really but that fab x-mas present I've already bought is sooooooo going back.)

Can someone please tell me this too shall pass and it's totally normal? Thanks.

Yes,what you are experiencing is normal. I find it simply absurd that someone would be back at work after 2 days but it's possible I guess. I promise you ,in about a week you will feel much better and I would say by two weeks ,you will feel pretty much back to normal. I had surgery on November 3rd and my Incisions still feel a little sore but outside of that ,I feel much better. Hang in there.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
