I have the Lap Band. My Dr chose this over the Realize Band because he felt his patients had better outcomes with weightloss. He does use both.

I had a choice, I choose Inamed because it comes in different sizes and realize only comes in one and I'm just not a one size fit all kinda girl. I have a 10cc with a 9cc fill level

Realize Band. Had a choice. I love my band!

I picked the Allergan band. My surgeon does both and didn't knock either one. She just said they do the same job it was just up to me. I didn't like how the port of the Realize was attached and it was a little more expensive (I'm a self-payer). I liked that the one I have comes in sizes and I like the shape of it and how it seems to contour to the shape of my stomach. The Realize came with a website too, but in the end I probably would forget about it or just get bored with it...so for me it was an easy choice that had nothing to do with this band is better or that band is older or anything...It was just the one I liked :tongue2:

I have a realize band. My dr came in right before surgery and discussed both bands. He didn't favor one over the other. I chose a realize band and i love it. Kelli

I was told I'd have a Realize band and that the difference was pretty much that one was a low pressure band and the other was a high pressure band (no clue what that means). When I was given my gastric band info. card so that I could register at the J&J site etc... it says Obtech. From my understanding that it owned by J&J so I'm not really sure if it's considered the same as Realize.

I had the Relize Band in September. I was not given a choice, the Dr. recommended the Relize Band. My first choice was Gastric By-pass, however, during that surgery, it could not be completed due to too much scar tissue and the surgery was stopped. My 2nd choice was gastric band.

I will be getting the allergan band on december 19th. The hospital where I will be having my surgery doesnt use the other band yet but he said it wont be anytime in the future. and Im ok with that.

:smile2:

My doctor gave me a choice and I selected the Iname Lap Band. Mt doctor gave me a 10cc band, which she pre-filled with 3cc during the surgery. So far so good.:)

I had a choice between the two bands. My doctor doesn't favor one over the other. I chose the Realize Band. I'm happy with my choice so far.

I have the Allergan and so far I am happy with it.

My dr only uses the Allergan band and stated he feels it is a better band. I later found out he works for lap-band as a trainer of sorts so I think he has a conflict of interest. I went to another seminar and the doc there stated he feels they both are equally good and offers both to his patients.
