Looking For August Bandsters....

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is Aug. 24th with Dr. Ortiz in MX. I haven't gotten real nervous yet but I don't think it has sunk in yet that I'm really going to do this. Other than having 2 babies, i've never been admitted to the hospital for anything so I imagine when it comes right down to it I will be a wreck! I wish they would just knock me out before i leave my hospital room so I won't see the Op Room. I know, I'm a big baby. Time is getting closer so hope to have some good vibes from the great people on this board. Thanks so much!

Hi Carolyn

I know just how you feel. I am going in for my band on the 29th

I am getting nervous and I hope I don't get freaked out when they are taking me to the OR..

We just have to remember that this is a new begining for us. And its a good thing. Think of all the great things we will be able to do with our kids afterwards..

Thats what keeps me going..

Good luck to you..

Amy

I am back and banded!!!! I love my band already!!!! The surgery was smooth....I don't even remember being asked to "count backwards", don't remember recovery all at, first thing I remember is being wheeled into my room and saying "hello" to my husband, daughter and mother!!! I had wonderful nurses, left the hospital the following day at about 2 p.m. Only take my pain meds at night, sleeping in recliner yet, but thinking about trying my bed tonight. Not too interested in eating, but I am getting tired of the "sweet" tastes of the clear liquid diet. I am looking so forward to Cream of Wheat on Wednesday!!! I hope all the other August Bandsters have pleasant surgery experiences and quick recoveries....I feel blessed.

Hey, I got back late last night, my surgery also went very well. I can't believe I don't have pain, but lots of gas, but no gas pains. I love my band too!!:cheeky Dr. Rodriguez in Monterrey was great, I would go there again in a heart beat. He did remind me that I have to work w/the band. HE said "Don't think you have to be so tight, it causes too many problems, eat healthy, and get a fill when needed, and unfilled if it is too tight, it is not worth losing the band by being too tight." Sounds good to me.

Hey Margo, glad you are doing well also.

Welcome home Shelley. I'm glad to hear that everything went well in Mexico. Isn't Dr. Rod the greatest? I'm trying to convince my mom to have surgery with him - she was impressed by him when they met at the hospital during my surgery.

Again, congratulations and welcome to bandland!

I am so glad that everything went good for you. I agree with you that Dr. Rodriguez was great. He sure does look young, doesn't he.

Yep, I'm on my Optifast now... I am doing 4 shakes plus some fruit/veggies for around 1000 cals per day. Dropped 5 lbs on it already.

Good luck!! The first couple days are the hardest, after that it is much easier.

Hope everyone that have been banded this month are doing well, and to all of those that are getting ready I hope all goes well for you as well.

I'm 1 week post op and doing well, lost 10 lbs as of this am, still have a little pain in the tummy area but other than that I am doing great, walking everyday. Today I start my mushies, although I am still not hungry, that time is in the evening for me. Well anyway take care all you Aug. bandsters.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
