How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Love all the wonderful stories! NSV's and SV's abound, and it's so good to see all the happy events. Y'all are about to make me tear up for ya!

The scale is moving slowly - but since like y'all, the NSV's are coming steadily, it's not a big deal for me like it used to be. I'm amazed at how little food satisfies my body hunger right now - what I used to eat just is way too much, even after cutting the portion size down.

I'm trying to make sure I don't drop below 1000 calories, because I don't want to get into starvation mode, and the "sliders" keep calling my name, but I'm doing pretty well overall.

I have a new goal - don't know if I posted it here yet or not - we have a family reunion coming up in July, and it will be in Florida. I play to wear a new, hot swimsuit for that reunion, and my goal is to be down 50 pounds by then. I'm close to 30 now, so I think it's doable to lose 20 more in April and May...I'm also going to add the weight work back into my routine at home so I can start building muscle to help tighten up my physique.

I know I'm going to have a soft tummy when this is over - there is definately plastic surgery in my future - so my new swimsuit will have a little bit of a skirt in front, but the rest of the suit is gonna leave room for the pow-bang-boom of my new body!

Wish me luck!

Great Job EbonyRose~

I love the NSV. Haven't been wanting to spend alot on new clothes just yet. My girls and I have been going to Walmart and finding really cute tops between $9-$12.00. Their clothes always seemed to run small for me. At one time I was buying the 4x-5x just in case it shrank. Last night I was buying 2x-18/20. And I think I still had a little extra room.

I too want to look good in a swim suit this summer. I need to order one now but I'm not sure what size. Part of me wants to play it safe and get an 18. The other part of me says 20 more pounds and I will be in a 16. Maybe the 16 will make me work harder for it.

EbonyRose, You Go Girl! I know you can do it!

Jewels, I Love Walmart now, too! But i've also found that the Goodwill can sometimes have good deals, and, as I don't wear them long, or wear them out, like I used to it's a better bet.

Happy Spring Everyone!

Yes, I was going to try there and maybe even Value Village. Why not!! All my 26/28 & 22/24 clothes sold on Ebay this past week. I couldn't believe it. Now I'm having the kids spring clean and going through DH's stuff. Little extra cash doesn't hurt since I'm still not working.

Way cool! I donated 17 suits in February (I work in an office) and now I have about 6 - 7 more suits to go the same way. There was a clothing swap at my Surgeons office over the holidays, but I wasnt able to make it. Anyone know of a clothing swap coming up in the near future in Maryland? Hmm, or, maybe i'll list them on eBay, like you did! LOL

Check out Ebay. Look a few up and see what they are going for. They pay for shipping. It's a win win for the seller. And they aren't paying hundreds of dollars either.

I LOVE listing my clothes on EBay - I've sold clothes and shoes that way, and not only do I make a little money for new stuff, someone else gets my gently loved clothes and can put them to good use.

I think it's a win-win. And I've bought $250 Tahari suits on Ebay for $50 - $60 each, which helps my budget go farther, cause I LOVE to shop!:blink:

Anybody else have bankers hours bands? My band won't let me eat before 9 am......no matter what time I wake up. It will get stuck every time. Then I need to eat my last meal for the day at 5 pm. Any later and it gets stuck as well. Very strange to me. I have had two fills I don't need anymore.....:tt1:. bread, in any form, is soooo painful I wouldn't care if I saw another piece of bread in my life. I know I don't eat very much.....everyone says. I am having IVF treatments, so they tested me for nutritional deficiency and I was completely fine. So I at least know that I am getting what my body needs, now for someone to tell my head that. With kids it is hard to stay on track and not eat on the run or eat bad choices.

My band's hours are more on the line of 3 PM through 9 PM. Very weird. Before that it's a Protein Shake and my latte.

I seem to be fine no matter what time a day. I am a little bit tigher in the am. I get up at 5am- normally I have Water to take my pills. Most days they go down fine- others I can feel them in there and water starts to gurgle until they go down.

I wish I had band tightness at night!!! Hubby likes late night Snacks and it's killing me.

ebay? why didnt i think of that. and to think that i have been bagging up ALL of my lane bryant clothes and just GIVING them away to the good will. all this time i could have been posting them on ebay and making a little money to help me buy some new clothes that actually fit. oh well... ya live an learn. all is good. i still have pretty good restriction and have been hitting the gym consistenly, inlisted a trainer and am just very excited and trying to remain focused.

does anyone watch the biggest loser or am i alone in my obsession? thoes people are losing some massive weight in very short amount of time, it's mind boggeling. but i guess if that is your 24 hour job and focus with the aid of a trainer and nothing else to do but focus on your weight loss...more power to them!

Daniel, the orange team member this season who was the heaviest the show had ever had, works at my Gold's Gym! He and his best friend David live in my area. Daniel has lost some serious weight! I've picked his brain about all things Biggest Loser, and he's really nice and loves answering my questions. I talk to him every time I go up there, though he only works 3 days a week. I told him about the Lap Band and surprisingly he was very stoked for me, and asked me lots of questions about how it's working for me and all that. Cool kid!

Oh, and I mentioned that I thought Bob was gay. Daniel told me that Bob is gay, but so is Jillian!!! :cursing:

Speaking of selling your clothes, yall should try Craigslist b/c it is free to list and free to sell and just post in your area and meet someone in your area. I try there first for a week or so then I post it on ebay since ebay's fees are horrible and paypal fees suck too.

I haven't posted on here in a while, I just had my 4th fill yesterday and I am hoping it is the MAGIC one. I want to be on a losing spree...

Well off to work and whatnot in the freaking rain... it's suppose to rain for 4 days here.. sucks!

hey everyone i'm looking for some advice. has anyone had a cold or flu yet since getting the band? i've been fighting a cold for a few days but i think i may have lost this round. my throat is killing me and i literally cant eat anything. it feels like everything is getting stuck even liquid is a challenge. does anyone know if this is normal when you get sick? i havent had a recent fill so im assuming that being sick has affected the band somehow. just checking to see if anyone else has experienced this?:tongue_smilie:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
