How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

Hey all Notorious Novembers! I sure am loving my band! I go tomorrow for my first fill and nutritional seminar. I feel like the band is the best thing that ever happened to me. For the first time losing weight seems natural. I am not starving to death and I don't need to exercise like crazy.

I do feel my port quite a bit too. Especially when getting up from a sitting position it is a little uncomfortable. But I am able to sleep on my stomach and that makes me so happy!!!

Glad to hear everyone is doing so good too. 2009 sure is going to be a different year for all of us!

Kp:tongue2:

So what's in my fellow November's bands at this point and how are you feeling?

I sometimes wonder if my doc is not being very agressive. I'm sitting at 1.5cc in a 10cc band after 2 fills. I am hungry all the time and am able to eat waaaay too much if I don't watch it. My doc told me the most a fill can be is .5cc and to not worry, he'll have me where I want to be eventually. My weight loss is good I guess, but I don't credit the band for that - rather I am watching very closely what I eat, excercising, and ignoring the hunger as best I can.

So where are you at this point?

Wow, your doctor sounds like a real pain in the A$$!!!! I can't believe after two fills you're sitting at 1.5cc! My first fill was for 3.2cc, and my second fill (this Friday) will no doubt be another 1.5cc or more. I can't believe the difference in surgeons. Shocking! It's a shame you can't demand more. I can't imagine being in your shoes. :tt1:

That is pretty darn conservative, even by conservative standards. My doc here in Dallas left me with 3 cc at the time of surgery and put in 2 cc on my first fill two weeks ago. I get my second fill this afternoon. So have 5 cc currently and will have more by tonight.

I will say though, if pounds loss is any indicator you are blowing most of us out of the Water. Good job!

Woodspot, you must have tons of will power.. you can't have to much restriction :cool2: My first fill was 4 cc and it gave me just a tiny bit of restriction has since dissappeared. Maybe because of your independent loss they don't want to fill yout to fast if you don't need it. Who knows?? For a group of surgeons who attend most of the same seminars there so many degree's of seperation. Whatever your doing keep up the good work.:tt1:

I go for my 2nd fill thursday. I can't wait. I hope it helps. I'm really surprised about the .5 limit. Mine said she was being a little less agressive but still but 2cc's in. Hopefully this next one she'll put 2 more and i'll be at 4cc's. I hope that does the trick. My weight loss has completely stopped, but i'm not eating very good at all and way too much. Haven't been very good at the gym either. I went monday but just played pool and foosball LOL hopefully today i'll go and get in a good workout.

Wanna B this is it I can feel it this was the magic fill ...lol !! Soon you will start shredding the lbs. How many CC's did they put in this time? Does this one fell better than the others?

I feel the magic coming  LOL.

I went in at 6.2cc and told the nurse I wanted another 1cc. She said we should only do .5cc, but I am so deseperate to get things moving I talked her into doing the full 1cc. She said as you get more fills you only add a little at a time. But as stubborn as I am I told her another 1cc would be fine. So she gave it to me, I sat up to drink some Water and man I could feel the water trying to go thru slowly. So we decided to take out .5, which put me right where she wanted to fill to begin with. HA! I guess I should learn to listen to them. Everyone at the clinic I go to all have the bands and have had them for years. So I guess they know what their doing. Today I do feel full and not as hungry. So that is good. I am gonna give it a week to see how things go. I have an appt next monday just in case but can always cancel. Sure would be nice to see that scale move down for a change.

I have only had one fill, but it was up to 4cc. I am extremely tight still and find it hard to eat in the morning. I have a 'window' to eat...like 11am-6pm and during the other times I feel like I need to be careful. I am still trying to introduce more solid food into my diet and it is slow going. I read somewhere that people like me probably could have fit the larger band, but the surgeon used the smaller one instead? I know that once I lose more weight it will lighten up a bit. I am taking my Vitamins and drinking my Protein Shakes everyday...so I am on top of the diet part.

Got my fill and it went much better this time...no digging around to find the port. He put another 1 cc in, so I have a total of 6 cc. He said the third fill is usually the magic one. But I will say, I have that tight feeling in my chest that I had after surgery, so I am hoping I have upped my restriction some. I had SOME from the last fill but definitely could still eat more than optimal. Let's hope this one tightens me up good. He told me to come back in two weeks if I need another fill then, four weeks maximum. So I have an appt on the 20th for my third fill but am hoping I won't need it. I am so ready to see the scale cascade down!

Hey Marisol

We're neighbors...somewhat. I'm in Torrance, Ca. I had my surgery done by Dr. Takahashi in torrance on Novenber 19, I had a fill on December 22 of 2 cc's which gave me NO restriction at all. I'm on a 19 day count down til my next fill and boy is it hard, because I can eat WHATEVER I want and prettymuch big amounts. But I stop myself from eating so much, not because I feel full or the food is getting stuck, just because I know that I should. I asked my doctor for more and she said that she didnt think it was good idea, for fear of over fill. She said that it might take 4-5 months to get it right which is VERY frustrating.

Wow - your doctor is very aggressive with fills - I just got my first (he made me wait 6 weeks) and I just made another one for 3 weeks from now. I really need more restriction!!!

Had none in at surgery, first fill one week ago at 3.5 cc. Worked great....for a week. I'm still full on a lot less food, but definitely not where I feel I need to be. We all knew going in, that it took a while to hit the 'sweet spot', but I'm confident in six months we'll all be WAY down!

I was banded Nov. 17, 2008. I had my first fill yesterday. I think 3cc. So far I've lost 33 pounds. It seems to be going slow. And even after having a fill I am still having hunger. I go back in two for a second fill if I need it. I imagine I'll keep the appointment. Being back in the gym has felt great! I am glad to sweat this weight off!

My doc doesn't consider himself aggressive at all. He has a certain technique he uses for fills that has been very successful for his patients, reading when the body has had "enough" fill based on its reaction to the Fluid going in and whether it kicks back against the plunger of the syringe and starts to push the fluid back out. He has fantastic success rates and very low complications rates. He is one of the top surgeons in the DFW area and is the #1 doc in the area to do revisions on lap bands messed up by other surgeons. I am very happy with him.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
