Pregnancy & lap banding... Will my port show?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

I'm just a newbie here.. but i'm sure glad to have stumbled across it!

I am trying to search for info from pregnant ladies who have been previously banded, and find out if their port stuck out or showed at all as they got nice and big?

I have been banded for 5 years now, and haven't looked back once.. It has been a fantastic lifestyle choice and smooth sailing all the way.. I even got down to 53kg for my wedding this year! :wink5:

So, I'M PREGNANT!!! YAAAAAY!!!!!! :smile2::laugh::tongue2:

But i'm really worried that my port will 'pop' or stick out and show in someway when i'm nice and big..

Have you had any experince with this?? Friends or even yourself perhaps?

I really hope it doesn't, I don't want anything taking away from that big beautiful bump..!

Thank you!!

i'm 26 weeks and my port does not show yet. not sure if it will though. you may have some restriction issues towards the beginning (many of us got REALLY tight)..

good luck - keep us posted

Hey Losingjusme!

Thanks for that..! Congrats to you too!!

Since I got to such a low weight this year and we were trying to conceive, I've already had an 'unfill', so hopefully I will go ok with the restriction issues..

Good luck to you too :)

I will keep you posted..!

Obviously your port doesnt show now? Mine shows anyway, not that I plan on being pregnant again. It would definitely pop right out with the pressure of a pregnant tummy behind it. But everyone is different. I find it hard to imagine that you're so tiny and light and yet it doesnt show at all. Hasnt your DH ever felt it, mine feels like a small rock!

Mine is right under the skin so I can feel every spot of it in detail.. but mine is in my chest, so I can't answer about the port showing, mine won't be changing!

If your port does pop out, you could always tell your husband that it's the baby's foot and it likes to stretch a lot... just kidding.. kind of.

I'm nearly 36 weeks pregnant, my port doesn't show when I'm standing up - but sticks out when I'm laying down.

I also am wondering the exact same thing. My port is right above my belly button. I have a strong feeling that it is going to stick out. I just hope my belly does not look deformed or that it affects the baby in anyway. I will keep you posted at to any changes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
