Hi Cindy

When did you and Annie see your family dr.? I just seen mine June 1st so I am probably looking at quite a wait!!! I am so impatient , I would love to have the surgury tomorrow.... I wonder how many patients he sees in a week? His receptionist told me he seen alot of patients last fall and he is now doing their surgeries this summer and the referrals he is recieving now he will see them in the fall.

Hi Marcie,

I have seen my doctor on May 29th, for Annie I don`t remember the date exaclty but it was a bit before me.. maybe end of April

I feel just like you... I wish I could get this surgery tomorow lol...

I think i`m going to go get myself some boost to try it for a couple of days....I see we are about the same age... Did you go to Esn or Bhs?

Cindy

No, I am from the Moncton Area. Yeah I know I was thinking about trying the boost too, It is probably much easier though knowing you have to do it,instead of just trying it...my willpower is not real good ,that is why I am in this situation to begin with....haha

Hi to all,

I'm on vacation right now and I'm loving it. Even if the sun seems to be shy to show up. I'm feeling really good. All the incisions healed well and it's a good thing when you're diabetic like me.

Now I can eat more things. The thing I have a hard time with is not having any liquid during the meals and the two hours waiting period after each meal. I never realized before my ways of drinking. Right now, what I do because I'm on vacation is having my cofee or my tea 15 minutes before my meal then I eat. I don't know what I'm going to do when I'll start to work. We'll see.

I really have to cut my meat in small pieces and what helps is if you mix it with gravy or something like that. When you feel you had enough, STOP even if your eyes says otherwise. It's like learning to eat all over again. The max. you can eat is 8oz and maybe even less sometimes. It depends what you eat. You have to think nutritional food if you want to have all the Vitamins you need.

You also have to do exercices. Right now, I walk because if you don't you won't lose weight or way less than what you're expecting and even then. Exercice and me weren't friend but since I started to walk an hour a day my muscles are taking the place of the fat and even if I weight myself it remains the same. Even if I know that, I find it hard not to lose like when I was doing my 2 weeks with the Boost and the first weeks after the surgery. I lost 30 pounds so far and I'm waiting until my muscles settle down and I start to lose weight again. They say it takes generaly 2 weeks before your muscles expends or get use to the exercice.

Once, I ate to much and boys what a bad feeling. I felt nauseated but couldn't throw up, my stomack was hurting . . . not a good idea to try that.

I'm suppose to have my first fill July 20th. I'm starting to be hungry at times but I don't. I try not to eat between meals but I have a snack in the evening. I use small plates, bowls and cups now. Everything is small now, small portion, small bites and most important shew a lot.

Hope to hear from you,

clempier:thumbup:

Hi to all again,

Something that will probably interest you I'm sure. If you go to www.weightview.com, you put a picture of you now and you say how many pounds you want to lose and they take you're picture and transform it to what you could look like when you reach your goal. Pretty cool, I did it. You may have a hard time if you're not into computer much, like me. My sister helped me. Pretty cool. My sister then put what I look like now and what I'll hopefully look like after and she put both on the same page and I'm planning to print it and put it on my fridge, my bedroom everywhere it can help me.

Try it !!!:)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
