first bump in the road... newbie

Recommended Posts

So, i just called my insurance provider (Indepentent BCBS PPO out of PA) and was told that there are no in-network providers in my area ( I live in MA). I'm totally bummed about this. i'm just getting started and all ready there is something in my way. Anyone have this insurance that has had the same problem? Anyone in MA that has an out of state insurance that this has happened to? HELP!!!

I don't have that exact issue but I do have the issue that my roommate and I both have Aetna PPO in CA. We LOVE this surgeon and he is technically out of network for our insurance. The facility he uses however is an approved in-network facility so part of our surgery (the really expensive part, hopital stay, anesthesia) is covered. Maybe try and find a surgery center that is IN network and even if the surgeon is out but practices there then the cost isn't soooo bad. You do have to do a little manual adding and stuff but I think it's well worth it if it will save me money.

ok I am going to try and help i am in ca and have bc/bs of id when I called I was told almost the same thing and was given a surgeon who was in network however he wasnt labeled under bariatric just general. That being said you may have the same issue if you call general surgery dr and ask if the specialize in wls. the next step is what is you annual out of pocket??? mine is 1000 if use in network and 1200 if outside so for me if my dr was out of network would have only cost an extra 200 as I am having to go to my annual amount of out of pocket so the % covered really doesnt matter. If your out of pocket is a reasonable ammount all you need is a surgeon wo accepts bc/bs and the area where you live wont matter. I hope that helps

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
