Almost 5 Weeks OUT

Recommended Posts

Guy's:

I've been recovering great and am on solid food again. What's scaring me is I'm finding I can eat more. Not as much as before, for sure, but more normal portions. My weight loss has stalled at about 20 lbs.

I'm battling with Portion Control and 5 days at the Y on the elliptical machine. This reminds me of the old battle without the band.

I have an Appt. with my surgeon on 10/28. I think I'll request a fill.

I'd appreciate hearing about similar experiences.

Thanks!

I had my first fill about a week ago (4 cc's), and it made a big difference for me in terms of managing portions, etc. So definite ask for a fill. Hopefully it will help.

Good luck!

Bryan

Congratulations to both you guys! You're both doing great.

As you get more fills, your appetite will diminish. I use a small plate. Take a small portion, eat it slow, and that's it. If eating out, ask for a take out box as you receive your meal, again leave only on your plate what you are going to eat.

Good luck!

Bruce

Thank you gentlemen. Your obviously successful at this endeavor. I applaud your success.

Thanks for the tips.

Another question comes to mind though. How about the group meetings? I have an opportunity to go to them. Do they work for men? If I go, am I likely to see a bunch of women there? Not that I mind women, but I don't relate well to them as far as weight loss is concerned.

How have your experiences been?

Carl

I went to a support group once. There were about 40 people present. The only other guy was a husband who came to meeting to support his wife who was a first time attendee. I decided right there it wasn't for me, but that's me, I tend to not wander too far from the "Men's Room" here. That being said, there can some good information at the meetings, but there are other sources for information (like here).

I agree with Bruce. I don't go to meetings for two reasons. First, the meetings in my area are on Saturdays, and that's family time for me. Second, I'm not interested in a group of women talking about their weight.

For me, the Men's Room is my support group, and it works pretty well.

Keep us posted about how you're doing.

Just as I thought. The experience comes from having been in almost every weight loss club/plan you can imagine.

I think I'll stay right here in the Men's Room. Good to have a spot we can call our own!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
