Any December '08 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Dont forget sugar free popsicles! they are awesome and help you stay hydrated.

Congrats and Good Luck!

I have just graduated to full liquids and I'm in heaven...:wink2:

I've got the popsicles, too!!! I am so excited for the 30th!

It seems like the closer it gets, the less anxiety I have- and I have major anxiety! :)

Hello to all. I was banded December 17. I have not felt at all hungry since the surgery, but have noticed a sense of restlessness since then that I was probably'fixing' with eating, before, and which I now need to confront and deal with in other ways.

It is comforting to read about how others are feeling physicially; there are many similarities, and that provides reassurance.

My doc loaded the band at the time of surgery. He say a fill won't be necessary for months. He says his goal with the band is diminished hunger, and patients should not feel the 'restriction' that others describe.

I am perhaps an unusual patient in that pre-op BMI was 31... and I wasn't overweight until my 30's.... and I already exercise quite a bit... perhaps I'm being overly optimistic in thinking these factors may make my journey to goal a little smoother. Time will tell.

I look forward to getting to know the other December 2008 band thread posters over the coming months, and hope we can be a source of support and more to one another as we journey to thin.

Well don't be anxious! be proud! you are being very brave and taking the first big step to becoming more healthy....it's scary, but this is a proven tool to help us reach our goals.

I take lots of comfort in prayer and also...you might try guided imagery tapes.- just tapes with relaxing music and nice voice telling you to relax and guides you through letting go of your anxiety. Just a suggestion- it works for me and I get anxious over all this too!

Best wishes!

My surgery is tomorrow. I have to go in to the hospital at 5 am for surgery at 7 am. I am excited and nervous. Plus, I don't have any real loose clothes to wear- which I JUST thought of. Anything else I should take to the hospital? Was anyone bored? I will be there a full day and overnight. Will I sleep pretty much the whole time? Hope someone is still awake to respond...

I was bored when I was awake, but I was in and out. The hospital also had an internet terminal so I was on this site a lot too.

But I think and ipod should suffice, or a magazine. Nothing too engaging

I didn't need anything to do as I was pretty out of it most of the time and when I was awake enough, I would try to get up and move around and that would tire me out and make me sore so I would go back to hitting my morphine and resting, time went really fast! My loose fitting clothes were a t-shirt and sweats and it was all I needed. I wish you the best of luck tomorrow! Merry Christmas to you!

I LOVED my button!! It was my best friend. I'd pass out and wake up, press my button, talk to my husband a bit until I passed out again. He stayed wtih me the whole night so if I woke up, I checked on him to make sure he was comfortable and everything.

I just wanted to sleep and thats what I did except when I got bothered by the nurses or beeping of the machines. The machine they put on your legs to keep the clots out made me relax and put me to sleep. I wanted to take it home with me!

 socks, underwear without holes, maybe a magazine or book...there's never anything on TV. You won't sleep the whole time. Make sure you have a big soft shirt that will be comfortable to wear home from the hospital. some deoderant and a toothbrush and you're ALL set! I took my soft pillow off my bed- it's nice to have! Good Luck...you're gonna be fine.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate everyones feedback. I am so nervous, but I am also exhausted. My hubby and I were up very late wrapping presents, I didn't get to bed until after 12, didn't fall asleep until after 1, and had to get up at 3:30 to switch the laundry over and get ready for today. I have been so preoccupied, I had lagged on the laundry, and had nothing "loose fitting" to wear. That being said, I will enjoy sleeping away most of today. I may be a bit lonely though. My hubby is working today, and by the time he gets home, it will be dark. Of course this means he won't bring the kids and himself to come see me, because the hospital isn't in the best part of town, and is worried something might happen. What a wuss. Thanks again everyone and cross your fingers for me. I will chime in when I get home tomorrow and let you know how everything went!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
