Acting

Recommended Posts

Acting has been an interest of mine all my life. I did get involved a few years ago, studying it at uni and also tafe (a college), but never stayed with it. I let my weight get in the way. I was way too self-conscious.

I'm getting the band soon and I'm thinking now I might be able to give this a really good go. If I don't have the weight to stop me, then I might just be able to stick with it long enough to have some fun. I'm not expecting a huge career now, but to at least be able to work in the industry, maybe just teaching others, would be a blast.

Anybody else been interested in acting at all?

I don't know much about acting in Australia but here in the states we have community theaters and you have people in all shapes and sizes and ages. My daughter has always been active in the theater and she's always been a plus size girl and has had many starring rolls, she also sings and has a beautiful voice and has much confidence in herself which I'm very proud of. If they have something like that there jump in it's a great place to meet a lot of nice people. It's not like movies or TV where there's so much emphasis on being a certain look or size, at least not here, good luck Nancy.

No, that's definitely the same here. As I said its been my issue about my weight stopping me. I've been stopping myself, not anyone else. With the weight gone, what was stopping me is gone.

I know how you feel. I'm a pianist, and have been lucky enough to have done a bit of performing, some of it as a musical theater director in local theater. I was always conscious of my weight, and felt that others were judging me, too, though no one ever said anything. Truth be told, I learned there were others who were plus sizes too, but like you, I let it get in the way, and haven't actively tried for much lately. I guess for me, the trick is to do what I can (I still perform) and even though I feel like there's not enough room for me, the piano, the singer(s) and the audience, I keep going. It's not always easy, but it works for me.

Good luck. Let us know when you decide to take those steps back toward your dream!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
