I started this thread because I've been seeing great ideas for getting your Protein but they're kind of scattered all over the board.

I've been using Muscle Milk which has 26g of Protein.< /p>

The best thing I've found is 'New Whey' which comes in a 3 and 1/2 oz bullet shaped container. It has a whopping 46g of protein! About 4 bucks each. Tastes like thick, grape cough Syrup but I can get it down.

'Oh Yeah' has just come out with an incredible Protein Drink as well with close to 40g of protein.

Any more suggestions?

Just went for my nutrition class, they recommended Unjury and a product by Syntax called nectar. I was able to find Nectar at Vitaminshoppe.com. It is on sale this week. I've heard they taste good, not sure havent tried them yet. I have to start the 2 week preop diet next week. Thanks for this thread it is nice to know others have good ideas too. Kelli

how much Protein is recommended for one day? i am drinking one slim fast per day which has 14.1g in it. It is all I can find here in Shanghai. Is it enough? I am eating high protein foods, eggs, string cheese, cottage cheese. I also take a SF effervescent Multivitamin. Please don't say talk to your dietitian because I don't have that here either.

Our dietician recommended 70-90g for the first 6 weeks. Then you can alter it to fit your specific needs then. Not sure how much after first six weeks. I'm sure with eggs and meats you are getting close to that. I hope.... Good luck.

Every doctor is different. For example, I could not have muscle milk or slim fast b/c of the fat content. They also advised over 20-25 grams of Protein, in the form of a supplement, was enough and more than that was a waste. (I'm not saying that is true, just what I was told..there seems to be many opinions on the matter!)

Best thing to do is listen to your nutritionist and dr., and if they don't guide you, do what you think is best.

I use a whey Protein myself. chocolate mixed with skim milk, provides 20 grams of protein, plus the protein from milk. I don't mind it, but I love milk! Good luck!

I get the whey Protein Shots from GNC by the case and with my gold card, i save 20% the first week of the month. So i buy 3 cases at a time. I think they are 46 grams of Protein so one a day is enough with my other foods. I also like the whey powder which can be found at Walmart. Two scoops is around 50 grams which i mix with skim milk and add a banana and some frozen strawberries and whip it up in my magic bullet. Very tasty! My doctor said between 50 and 70 grams a day. I think that is why i have so much energy. I've also heard the protein is very important for during weight loss because you retain the muscle therefore not as much flab! Sounds good to me........!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
