I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Good for you ... You never know that Ex may want you in antoher two mon'ts when a whole new you starts to surface. I've tried talking two or three people and havehad such bad feedback I have decided to stick with I'm having a hernia fixed!! which isn't a lie because he has to fix that while he is in there..lol. 5 more days and counting.

Well, it turns out that my ex knows a lot about the subject. He watches a lot of the Discovery channel, LOL! Either that, or his wife has been researching it. Anyway, I'm sure that went a long way in his attitude toward it. I've kept the surgery thing just to my closest friends, too. My brother and his wife freaked out last year when I first started the journey, so I just shut up about it. This is funny, but my ex's mother has known all year. She's one of my best friends! I guess it's Jerry Springer time! She watches our daughter for me a lot and knew I was going to the hospital at least once a month. She has too much class to ask why, so I told her. I know she can keep a secret and I didn't want her to worry about me.

Hernia! Good idea! I think my cover story will have to be that I am out of town for a few days. If I say I am having surgery I will end up on the Prayer Chain at church and the minister will come visit. Very sweet but I don't want to go there. I have enough problems without lying to a minister. Maybe we will make an imaginary trip to Jamaica. Last time we were there my cell phone didn't work there but they did have email in the hotel rooms.

Doh! Wait that cover story won't work. We would never go away for:wink2: Thanksgiving. This is going to require some fancy footwork....I am starting to feel like I have a hernia....http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/modern/wink.gif

You're an inspiration to me! I have to be on a 7 day, liquids only pre-op diet. I have been envying the people that get to have a lean cuisine one time a day. BUT, they have to do it for two weeks. I figured it was a trade off. Knowing that there is someone else out there that is doing the liquids only thing pre-op and having the strength to do it for a longer period of time, will really help me. Sorry. Me, me, me, it's all about me. I'm really surprised that your doctor is doing it this way. Isn't it weird the difference in surgeons protocol?

P.S. xtightend, you crack me up!!!!

Hello Evahbody!

I'm in such a good mood...not even a minor mess-up with my insurance is gonna get me down! My employer (Yale U) covers the lap band surgery 100%, but I also have secondary coverage through BC/BS with my hubby for local stuff like prescriptions.

Today, the surgeon's office called to say that BC/BS was listed as the primary, and the dumb folk at the hospital called them to get an authorization for the surgery! Of course BC/BS said "what the heck?" and then they were all a-tizzy. The surgeon's office is great - they just called me and told me to tell BC/BS that Yale is my primary, and away we go...simple process!

A 5 minute phone call, and I'm all set...I know this is just pre-op nonsense, and I'm not letting it get me down. I'm flying so high right now - I've only got three more days to wait and I'll be banded!:w00t:

Congrats to all the new forum visitors / members / posters...hang in there with the pre-op diet - it's definately worth it to make things easier for your surgeon!:w00t:

I'll keep checking in, and you'll definately hear from me when I get home on Tuesday afternoon...as a banded woman!

Hello to all you lapbanders!! I will join your ranks tomorrow and I must say I don't know whether I'm more excited or nervous. I will let you know my thoughts/feelings and maybe even can post a few tips relating to my experience next week. It's so nice to have a place to chat about my own experience and it's been very helpful to just "lurk" and learn from many of your posts. Onward and upward!!!!

I am so excited for all of us. I am scheduled for surgery on November 24th! I have been on the liquid diet for 5 days, 9 more days to go (if I don't jump off a ledge by then!!) You're all right about all surgeons giving different diets, it is frustrating. I would LOVE a Lean Cuisine or some real food right now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
