Shalee's October Overhaul

Recommended Posts

So glad to hear from you. I'm glad you are doing better. I am going crazy not being able to get back to normal activities and all the swelling. I can't imagine how frustrating complete bedrest must be for you and Karey!! Hang in there.

tHi Renewed and Tracy. Yes the bed rest is killing me, but I am going to do everythng dr says to get this thing better. I went yesterday and he removed both my drains, OH MY that wasn't fun at all. I go back in a week as long as we have no probs before then. I am allowed to sit up a little more now, but still no walking or anything, only bathroom breaks and to the couch. Swelluing isnt to bad except in my lower tummy and my right breast, go figure. Renewed glad your doing great!!!!! Tracy did you ever make it to yur other consult.

Ok back to bed for me,

Hi Karey,

One part is better and as of yesterday one part is worse. Today is actually the first day I have any energy. I have been watching alot of movies and reading alot. I am trying to not get depressed over this and look at it as a small setback, but sometimes its overwhelming to me.

Hubby took pix of mine last night to email my Dr to see to keep him updated.. I am still not allowed a real shower only sponge baths and it really sucks as I know a shower would make me feel a little better.

What do you put or do for your wound??

thoughts and prayers

Shalee: My ps put me on another round of antibiotics and bacitracin ointment and now aquaphor. He said that a moist wound heals better than a dry one. My wound is starting to heal in, which is good. Sorry yours is being so naughty! Hope it turns around soon!

Wow Shalee. I am sorry you are having such problems. At least it seems like you have a great support system and a positive attitude. Sending you warm wishes.

Hi Shalee,

I just read your thread from start to finish. I hope you're feeling better and get that shower soon! I know this will all be worth it. Imagine how great you'll look in a bathing suit this summer!

Hey Shalee,

Congratulations on your surgery and I hope you're feeling better! You and I are pretty similar in that I had a extended Tummy Tuck with both vertical and horizontal incision on Oct. 14th (so 1 1/2 weeks ahead of you). I didn't have a breast augmentation, but I did have a lift. I am SO happy with my results - even through the swelling - and I'm sure you will be too. If it helps, this week has made a huge difference in my energy levels, etc...

Anyway, congrats again and let me know if you need anything :)

~Lori

What does a Tummy Tuck or Lipo cost? Has anyone have insurance pay for it. I am left with a football size fat deposit above my stomach from the belly button to my left size that is bugging me terribly. It is just a huge bulge. No hernia or muscle displacement, just fat tissue over my large stomach and around the portal. I would need to have insurance cover it - has anyone had any luck getting insurance to pay for any of this?

Hi Everyone. Sorry I haven't been on lately. I went to the Drs on wednesday, he took out my belly button stapels and a few stitches. He has us doing a new treatment on my incisions where they have opened up and also on the one that looks like it about to open up, Wet to Dry dressings twice a day. He seems to think this will help with the closing of the one hole I have, Me I am not so optimestic, it actually scares the hell out of me, So I am still on bed/recliner rest with no showers yet, Boo Hoo, I want a shower! Hubby is great with me and washes my hair for me and helps me sponge bath as well as change my dressings for me.

I do like the flatness of the tummy and WOW the mons lift sure made a huge difference down there, looks normal again!! hehehehe I can't ever remember my tummy being this flat.

The breasts are starting to settle into place also which is nice, they have really never given me any pain at all, just a little swelling, I guess with the pain and issues of the Tummy Tuck I just never noticed any pain from them which is good. The scale still says 170-171, I thought it would go up becasue of all the laying around and no exercise, but is hasnt. I am on a super high Protein diet to help promote healing. Dr says he might have to go in eventually and do a skin graft on part of it. I am like Uhmmmm we'll see I dont want any more surgery ever. But I do want this issue to be fixed in the end.

So thats my update, I am feeeling human again and energy level is up, I did go back to the stronger pain pills, but so far they aren't making me sick to my tummy.

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts, keep em coming

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
